OHS Tiny Homes build is getting a new floor!!! The students are learning about what is required to meet building code specifications, using power tools safely and TEAM work to get the job done!!

Tiny Homes is All GO! Big thanks to the boys from Cunningham Constructions Ltd for introducing the students to the Scaffolding trade and letting them work with you to put it up. Thank you to Ingrams bins for the skip bin. Makita turned up and show the students the new 40v range… I think the teachers were more excited than the students 😂. We looking forward to continuing to work with Mega Mitre 10 trade and Makita to help supply good quality trade tools for the students to learn.

There has been a lot of work done over the last couple of weeks for the start of Tiny Homes next week (Tuesday after assembly). Thanks must go to the lions for putting the new shelter cover on. Lloyd Morgan not only help with the cover but also brought his digger in to do some work to tidy up the floor level. I also need to mention Darrell Hicky who supplied the fines and took some greenwaste for us. Thanks to Brendan Forsyth contracting for cutting the hedge down and transporting the fines and speeding fines. Thanks to Central House Movers for positioning the prefab safely on site ready for term 1.

All the hard work this group of boys have been doing over the year is now coming to fruition. The boys have started lining the inside of the Tiny homes today. One more big push this term to complete the job.

The boys worked hard in the cold and windy conditions today to get the windows and stacker installed today. Aiming to have the rest of the cladding on this Friday.

Wet Day on Friday- no problem; boys worked on insulating, then they completed installing the timber fixing and internal framing. Overall the build is in front of schedule… just keep watching this space over term 3 as the students work hard towards progressing the build to a finished product.

Prepping for the windows to be put in and running all Electric cabling was the task for the day. Thanks to Fairview Aluminum Creations for delivering the windows and Mega Mitre 10 for the delivery of the insulation..

These young men continue to impress as their work ethics and attitude to get onto the job site, regardless of the weather, continues to grow. Their positive attitude to the tiny homes program is evident in the pace at which they are building this cabin. Outside bracing ply was completed today, roofing underlay ready for the iron. We have started the frame wrapping process ready for cavity battens.
