Today our Rooms 6, 7 & 8 tamariki had the privilege of taking part in a Media & Storytelling Workshop with Awhina Kurei and Zac from Kea Kids News. Through hands-on activities, our students explored how storytelling and journalism can celebrate culture, strengthen connections with community, and share the kaupapa that matter most.

A huge thank you to Awhina and Zac for so generously sharing your time, expertise and passion with our tamariki. We can’t wait to see where these new storytelling skills take them.

Firstly, thank you to all the families who attended our parent interviews yesterday. We appreciate the time you took to meet with our teachers and discuss your child's learning and progress.

If you were unable to attend, there are still interview time slots available for this afternoon. We encourage you to take this opportunity to connect with your child's teacher.

Our teachers have been working hard to implement the new Ministry of Education reporting system, preparing student reports and getting their classrooms ready for these important conversations. Attending your child's interview is a great way to acknowledge and support the effort they have put into ensuring your child receives the best possible learning experience.

Mā whero, mā pango ka oti te mahi – through working together, the work is completed. By collaborating as whānau and school, we can achieve the best outcomes for our students.

Due to the weather today netball has been cancelled for this afternoon.

Tēnā koutou katoa,

I am writing this morning to advise that, although we are not experiencing heavy rainfall today, an inspection of our school field and track has confirmed that the whenua has been significantly impacted by the heavy rain overnight.

The ground is extremely saturated, which will affect parking areas and prevent the safe setup of the portaloos and gazebos required for the event. As a result, we have made the decision to postpone the Ōpōtiki Districts Cross Country until Thursday, 11 June.

If your child was asked to bring home baking tomorrow as part of the senior fundraising event, please hold onto it and bring it along next Thursday instead.

A huge thank you to these amazing students who helped plant new plants in our office garden this afternoon 🌱

Together we learnt how to take cuttings from existing plants to grow new ones, how deep to plant our new seedlings, and even some new plant vocabulary like succulents, spider plants, and bromeliads 🌿

Thank you, awesome students, for your enthusiasm and care. What a special space this will become, whānau. I know it will be beautifully looked after by these wonderful kaitiaki 💚
