It was a lovely sunny morning, and we thought it would be fun to take the kids for a walk to Cooney Reserve, just a quick two-minute stroll from Minnows. When we arrived, the children couldn’t wait to roll down the grassy hill, their laughter ringing out as they tumbled into a soft heap at the bottom. They looked up at the small boats gently bobbing in the water and excitedly talked about spotting the birds they had read about. Hand in hand, they made their way to the bird viewing platform, stopping along the way to admire the adorable fairy houses hidden among the bushes, with tiny doors and windows that sparked their imaginations. Once they reached the bird viewing platform, they took a moment to check out the bird signboard. The colorful pictures of the different species caught their eye, and they eagerly named the birds they hoped to see. We're so lucky to have Cooney Reserve so close to Minnows, and the kids are thrilled about our little picnic!

They say 'There no such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing!' Even in the rain this morning, the children were eager to play outside, so on with the raincoats and out we went!

We love celebrating different cultures here at Minnows! We are currently learning about the Chinese New Year. 2024 is the year of the Dragon and the children have loved making colourful paper dragons,
Celebrating cultural diversity can have a positive impact on children’s acceptance of differences and their sense of belonging in the early childhood education environment and beyond.

Developing Independance in toddlers.
The mixed-age environment serves as a rich learning ground where children naturally absorb knowledge, behaviours, and skills from their older peers. This approach not only enhances individual development but also nurtures a sense of community, cooperation, independence and mutual support among the children. Minnows kindergarten setting provides a positive and holistic learning experience for each child.
