👂🏽THE PEDAGOGY OF LISTENING 👂🏽

🌟This Zoom conversation will be hosted by Anne Meade and Rachel Denee. We will be focusing on the Pedagogy of Listening.

🌟In choosing the reading for this online conversation, a link was made to Kirsty Liljegren’s webinar focused on the Curious Teacher on 21 March 2023. One of Kirsty’s provocations was for educators to “launch incubating thinking” in their sustained conversations with children. This is an intriguing metaphor that you may want to mull between now and 25 May.

🌟To incubate children’s thinking, one challenge for kaiako is to put more listening into our practice ̶ an “active attitude of listening between adults and children.” Thus, we propose discussing a classic reading, Carlina Rinaldi’s “The Pedagogy of Listening: The Listening Perspective from Reggio Emilia”. It’s from The Hundred Languages of Children, 3rd edition (2012): 233-246.
