20 hours free care on the chopping block in worrying ECE consultation : Early Childhood Council The government’s plans to dump initiatives like 20 hours free Early Childhood Education, subsidies for children under two and 100% qualified teacher funding bands will mean increased parent fees and a bleak future for providers. “Parents should be really concerned – you’re likely to be payin...

We will be updating families as the information becomes available. Have a nice weekend, we hope to see you Monday.

TROPICAL CYCLONE 🌊 The upper North Island is facing warnings of extreme weather from Sunday afternoon and we urge schools and kura to be prepared. MetService is expecting Tropical Cyclone Gabrielle to bring strong wind, heavy rain (potentially between 200 and 400mm in places) and large swell.

We are actively monitoring the situation and will keep you up to date as things develop over the weekend.

In the meantime, here are the updates that have been sent to schools and early learning services with all the information we currently know ➡️ https://bulletins.education.govt.nz/

So very proud of you Ezzi, to be able to speak about this terrible day with such grace and strength. It is good to see an investigation on the many failures in a system that meant it was able to happen. Let’s hope for change.

We are so excited to welcome you back next year all going well 🤞 ❤️

'So, this is my story. This is how I die': Mall victim's survival, her hero - and why she feels terror attack has been forgotten 11/02/2022

Our brave Ezzi has has shared her story this week, we are so thankful Ezzi has felt strong enough to do so. With the long road she is still walking this tiny bit of insight into her struggles still brings me to tears. Thank you to Jade and Kate Alexander from AlexanderPR who have helped Ezzi tell her story in a safe and supportive environment. We know that this story is the start of diving deeper in to what happened on that terrible day, to bring it out from under the rug and to shine a light to help ensure that it can never happen again here.

Thank you to all of our Birkenhead parents who helped keep Ezzi’s story her own until she was ready, your support and kindness in the early days has not been forgotten ❤️
