What a fantastic day at the Otago AgriFutures Clash of the Colleges! 🌾🐝🚜

It was wonderful to see so many young people getting involved, giving everything a go and learning practical skills across the agricultural sector.

Events like this are about much more than competition—they give our rangatahi the opportunity to discover where a future in food and fibre could take them.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day possible, including our schools, volunteers, module providers, sponsors and supporters. I’m incredibly proud to be part of an event that introduces the next generation to the many opportunities within our rural industries.

Another successful Clash—and plenty of great memories made in Otago! 💚

Entries for the 2027 Horizons Ballance Farm Environment Awards are officially open!

The awards recognise farmers, growers, managers, and teams across the Horizons region who are leading the way through their actions, good practice, and commitment to their land, business, people, and community.

Think you need to have everything finished or perfected before entering? You don’t. The programme is an opportunity to step back, reflect on what you’re doing, receive valuable feedback, and recognise the great work already happening within your business.

For some, entering starts with a personal nudge from a friend, colleague, or family member. For others, it begins with a simple question: “Am I ready?” The best way to find out is to take a closer look.

Once again we are on farm with 1st year Massey vet students where we teach them with hands on farm experience. Milking cows, handling calves, setting up temporary fences and looking out for health issues in livestock.
