Our Tamariki had the best morning on Monday with a little outing to the library. We read books, sang songs and played with all the cool toys they have to offer! 📚

We had an excellent session in the winter sunshine today and the tamariki helped us parents make a fire in the sand pit to learn about 🔥ahi safety🔥. Everyone got involved and toasted some marshmallows!

Our bigger tamariki also played a lot on the obstacle course we set out today using their gross motor skills climbing, jumping and balancing and also testing what their big bodies are able to do (crash mat in place when their little arms get tired)

Was a great day! 🎉

Yesterday our tamariki celebrated a delayed pink shirt day.
We designed some pink tee shirts and had some pink textured play!

"I'm loving this" - direct quote by one of our tamariki and you can see in these photos how much they do love messy play!
Tamariki of all ages (māmā's included) got well and truely messy today for 'Messy Play Week'.
Slime, sand, paint, bubbles and oobleck were out to play with and within 5 mins all mixed together to make an interesting texture.

We plan on using the ātaahua (beautiful) creations for our sea life display this term. 🌊🐟🦀🐬🐳

At Normanby Playcentre our tamariki LOVE messy play. Mana Aotūroa (exploration) is in every aspect of our centre, as you can see from our pikitia (pictures). We support our tamariki’s kotahitanga (holistic development) through fine motor skills, coordination, experimenting, sharing space, and expressing creativity.
