We’re off!!!

Thanks to an incredible amount of support from our amazing community, our Year 7/8 crew is heading down to Hillary Outdoors for another epic week of adventure, challenges, teamwork and plenty of memories!

We are so grateful to everyone who has helped make this trip possible.

A huge thank you to all our whānau who supported our fundraising efforts to help keep Harold and the Life Education Trust returning to our school to deliver amazing programmes. We raised $325, which will go to our local Life Education provider here in Whangarei.

Love Books? We are looking for a library assistant for four hours a week fixed term for the rest of the year
The role consists of:
Using the library computer system to return and issue books
Organising and tidy the book shelves
Process, label and cover new books
Create bar codes for new books
Add new students to the system

The ideal candidate will have
Computer software skills
Attention to detail
People skills and and capability to build positive relationships
Ability to be self directed
Good time management

Expression of Interest: Te Ao Māori Cultural Advisor to the School Board
Our Ngunguru School Board seeks expressions of interest from members of our school and wider
community for the role of Te Ao Māori Cultural Advisor.
Purpose of the Role
The Te Ao Māori Cultural Advisor will support the Board to incorporate a Māori lens into governance,decision-making, and school direction. This role will help ensure that Ngunguru School honours Te Tiriti o Waitangi, strengthens cultural responsiveness, and fosters an inclusive environment where te ao Māori is visible, valued, and embedded across the school.

Key Contributions
The Advisor will:
● Provide guidance to the Board on incorporating a Te Ao Māori perspective into strategic
decisions, policies, and practices
● Support the integration of tikanga and te reo Māori across school activities, programmes, and
events
● Offer cultural advice to help strengthen relationships with whānau, hapū, and iwi
● Assist in identifying opportunities to authentically embed Māori culture within the school
environment
● Support the development of staff and student capability in understanding and engaging with
Māori culture and perspectives
● Encourage practices that promote equity and success for Māori learners

We are seeking someone who:
● Has strong knowledge of te ao Māori, tikanga, and/or te reo Māori
● Is connected to the local community and/or has an understanding of local iwi and hapū perspectives
● Is passionate about supporting tamariki to thrive in a culturally rich and inclusive environment
● Can provide thoughtful, constructive advice at a governance level
● Works collaboratively and respectfully with diverse groups
Commitment
While this is primarily a voluntary role, the advisor can claim payment for Board meeting attendance.
The expected commitment includes attending Board meetings (one per month) and being available for periodic contributions.

Afternoon BUS 2 coastal Route cancellation.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Ritchies have been unable to secure a driver for Bus 2, the afternoon bus to the coast. Please collect your child or make other arrangements. Whānau of students who have indicated they are going on Bus 2 will get a phone call. We can get a message to your child about the change of plan.

Yesterday I had the awesome privilege of supporting our three teams at the 2026 Lit Quiz. Our students were amazing and I was so proud of them. We had two second places, one in the year 5/6 competition and one in the year 7/8. Thanks to the whanau who took transport and supported the teams. Way to go Ngunguru!!
