Hauraki Plains Youth Cricket

Hauraki Plains Youth Cricket HPY Cricket has been setup to help grow the game for youth across the Plains. Our first mission is to establish cricket nets at the Ngatea Domain.

Hauraki Plains Youth Cricket has been setup as an affiliate to the 98 year old Kaihere Cricket Club. Our mission is to help grow the game of Cricket amongst the youth of the Plains. Aware that is often hard for rural schools to field a full age grade cricket team we are setup to bring kids together from different schools and compete in the Matamata/Morrinsville competition. Our first mission is to

establish a training facility of a 3 bay cricket nets at the Ngatea domain. This will allow for year round training and provide a central point for the teams to meet and hold practice. The Hauraki District Council and Ngatea Domain Board have given the approval for the constructuion to begin in Sping 2017 once fundraising is complete. To achieve this mission of bringing cricket to the wider youth of the Plains we need to raise $45,000 to construct a high grade 3 bay concrete cricket nets. We already have commitment for funding from NZ Cricket and are now seeking helping from the community in the form of donations, business sponsorship and the purchase of a plaque which will be embedded into the concrete of the nets to honour the families and business who will support this. We will also be seeking signage sponsers and a naming rights sponser. So please contact us if you would like to help out this worthy cause.

So great to see so many kids getting stuck in and having fun.

Massive thanks to all the parents who jumped in to help with skills and then support two games that followed.

Looks like we’ll need to add another game next time. Can’t wait to see you all on the 30th November!
