The Ting Pavilion and its puzzle
At the highest point of the Chinese Scholars’ Garden stands the Ting Pavilion, its gold roof tiles symbolising wealth, its red pillars good fortune. Crafted in China and shipped here in pieces, it arrived with instructions in Chinese only. Assembling it became a giant three-dimensional puzzle — one our team proudly solved.
Today, it offers a peaceful lookout over the Waikato River, connecting cultures through a shared respect for land and water. 🌿
