Huge shoutout to our amazing students at their Gateway placement with On The House 💚
Through their placement, our students are a part of an organisation doing truly meaningful mahi — reducing food waste, supporting whānau in need, and building stronger community connections through kindness, participation, and shared purpose.
A massive thank you to On The House for the incredible work they do every day and for providing such a valuable opportunity for our rangatahi to learn, grow, and give back 🌱✨

RAPUARA HAUORA EXPERIENCE
Our students recently spent the morning at Taranaki Base Hospital thanks to the team at WhyOra. Through the Rapuara Hauora initiative, our ākonga had the chance to explore a range of career pathways within the health sector.
Nurse Educator Heidi had students testing their medical and anatomical knowledge in a fun and interactive way.
Kat, a Medical Laboratory Scientist, took us behind the scenes of the lab which was super informative, with plenty of great questions from our curious students!
Mike, an ED Nurse also shared valuable insights into nursing mahi and gave us a quick tour through the Emergency Department.
Opportunities like this give our students valuable insight into real-world careers and help spark ideas about their future pathways.

TAHATU CAREERS WEBSITE
A new digital doorway has opened for students exploring life after school. The newly launched Tahatu Careers Website at tahatu.govt.nz provides a fresh and engaging way for young people to explore careers, training pathways, and future opportunities across Aotearoa.
Designed specifically for students, whānau, and educators, the Tahatu platform brings together practical career information, study options, and real-world insights into different industries. Students can explore what different jobs involve, the skills they require, and the pathways that can lead there, whether that means university, apprenticeships, training, or going straight into the workforce.
For secondary school students who may still be discovering their interests, Tahatu acts a bit like a career “compass”. With interactive tools and easy-to-understand information, it helps learners connect their strengths, passions, and subjects at school with possible future careers.
We encourage students and whānau to spend some time exploring the site together. It is a great starting point for conversations about goals, study choices, and the many exciting pathways available after school.
You can explore the new platform at tahatu.govt.nz and start mapping out your future
