Yesterday we took the day to show our appreciation for our amazing duo who keep our school afloat by combining both their strengths into a formidable combination of expertise, experience and empathy. Our Principal/Tumuaki, Kim Theyers, and our Deputy Principal/Tumuaki Tuarua, Tracey Ogle. From all our students, staff and the whole school community - thank you both for everything you do for the benefit of everyone ❤

Westown School is taking part in the Taranaki Milk Top Challenge. We have until the end of Term 3 (25 September) to collect as many milk and cream tops as possible to win some great prizes for the school. Please help us (and the environment) by saving your milk tops for us. These can not go in your recyclying bins but through this initiative will be recycled. Please bring your lids into the school office. Thanks

Today our students received their Term 2 Duffy Books. We are extremely grateful to be part of this wonderful programme that provides free books to all of our students. This term’s books are sponsored by the government. Happy reading everyone!

Unfortunately the power at the school has not yet been restored. That means we have several classes with no power at all which means no lights and no heating, and some classes with partial power only.
Room 7 - P**i KAHA - NO Power at all
Room 6 - Mrs O - NO Power at all
Room 5 - Mrs Smith - No Power at all
Room 14 - Montessori - No Power at all
Room 10 - Mrs Wooffindin (absent tomorrow, Mrs Cel relieving) - Partial Power - NO Lights
Room 11 - Whaea Janine - Normal
Room 12 - Mrs Hughes - Normal
Room 13 - Mr Guthrie (absent tomorrow, Mrs Harvey relieving) - Normal
Please if you can, we would really appreciate the students in the classes with No Power staying home tomorrow. It is too cold and dark to use the classes without power. Please let us know if you will be keeping your children at home because of the power situation by either using Seesaw, Skoolloop or phoning or messaging the school office. This WILL NOT affect their attendance as it is out of our control.
We will keep you updated regarding the power situation as changes come to hand. At the mpment the power company has not been able to give us an expected time of reinstatement.
Thanks
