This week we held our Period Power Chat with our 8–10-year-olds, creating a safe, positive space to learn about puberty, periods, and the incredible changes that happen as girls grow.

Our goal is to help girls feel informed, confident, and empowered, while removing some of the fear, confusion, and embarrassment that can sometimes surround these conversations.

Through open discussion, education, and plenty of questions, the girls learned that periods are a normal and healthy part of life.

To support them on their journey, each girl also took home period underwear and period products, helping them feel prepared and confident for whenever that time comes. We also had a hot chocolate buffet to celebrate this conversation and our amazing bodies.

These conversations matter. When girls have the right information and support, they can step into this stage of life with confidence, curiosity, and self-belief.

My experience going to therapy and counselling as a teen was that the spaces were so clinical. I knew from the beginning I wanted to make the place inspiring and uplifting, and place where confidence and dreams are made

The biggest goal when talking to our girls about periods is helping remove fear and shame before puberty fully begins.

The more calm, open, and normal these conversations feel, the more confident and supported our girls will feel as their bodies begin to change.

I’d love to know, when did you start talking to your daughter about periods?

Sometimes as parents we think the big moments are what shape our children most.

But often it’s the small daily interactions:
The way we speak to them.
The way we respond to emotions.
The safety they feel around us.
The encouragement they hear consistently.

During the pre-teen years, the brain is wiring and strengthening the pathways it uses most.

Which means the conversations we create now can have a lifelong impact.

The pre-teen years are one of the biggest periods of brain development outside of infancy.

What our children repeatedly hear, feel, and experience during this stage helps shape the pathways their brain strengthens most.

The small daily moments matter more than we realise:
Feeling emotionally safe
Being spoken to with encouragement
Learning how to understand emotions
Feeling connected and accepted

Confidence, resilience, and self-belief aren’t things children are simply born with — they are built over time through relationships, experiences, and connection.

This is why the pre-teen years matter so much.

Having spent many hours mentoring young girls over the past 6 years- I realise how important it is to start building the foundations of positive self-image and belief- having the right conversations and supportive environment can make all the difference to build girls confidence and create emotional resilience.

Our sister circle is our special celebration for our last session of the 10 week programme. We reflect of the 10 weeks, the growth, connections and learnings.

The girls wrote notes of appreciation to each other as keepsakes, so each girl goes home with reminders of their self-worth and connections made.

Our sister circle is always super special- the last session of our 10 week programme where we reflect on what we have learnt, the connections and growth made as well as setting intentions.

We often write notes of appreciation to each other- something each girl can keep to remind them of their worth and the connections they made.
