Our children all love the miniature house, this space provides a safe, controlled environment where children can work through real-life family social dynamics. It is lovely to see where mum and dad, nana and poppa, the children, furniture are placed. It even has a wheelie bin to put the rubbish out for collection.

Todays sensory experience invited our preschoolers to dive hands-first into messy learning. By presenting materials like foam and paint, firm gelatin, playdough, ice or water, we create an environment with no set rules and no right or wrong outcomes. As the children squish, scoop, and pour, they are not just making a mess; they are building crucial fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. This child-led play naturally sparks scientific curiosity through cause-and-effect discoveries, while rich peer conversations boost early language development and vocabulary.
This messy play was purposefully set up with a 'chickens and eggs' theme as we have children who are caring for chooks at home. 🐔

Did you know that May is Bee month? Through the medium of art, by collecting pollen from flowers in our mara, studying the life cycle of the bee, reading books, learning scripture, asking questions and exploring a bee themed gelatin sensory play, our tamariki has been busy learning about the important job bees have.

🐝 Bees pollinate the vast majority of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seed oils.
🐝 They move pollen from flower to flower and allow wild flora and trees to reproduce.
🐝 And honey bees make honey which we like to eat.

I'm excited to see what other interesting facts we will learn about this bee-autiful insect this month.

It was our privilege to be able to host a Mother's Day high tea to honor the mothers and grandmother's of our tamariki.
