✂️ Our tamariki have been showing a real interest in cutting lately, so our kaiako got creative!
Using cardboard cylinders, some scrunched-up packaging wrap, and a bit of Sellotape, we created some "hairy heads" for the tamariki to become hairdressers. 💇♀️💇♂️
The tamariki had so much fun giving their clients new hairstyles while practising their cutting skills. This simple activity was a huge hit—we could hardly keep up with the demand! It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged, focused, and having lots of laughs along the way. 😊
Who knew a few recycled materials could provide so much fun and learning! ♻️✨

🌬️ With all the windy days we’ve been having, our tamariki have been busy designing and making manu tukutuku (kites), before heading outside to see if they could fly.
This activity supported our learning about Ururangi, the Matariki star connected to the winds. It has been wonderful to see the tamariki exploring, creating, and having fun while learning about the stars of Matariki. ⭐

✨ What a fantastic turnout we had this morning at Westown Kindergarten as we celebrated Puanga and Matariki with a special breakfast!
A huge thank you to all our whānau who joined us. It was so lovely to see tamariki, whānau, and our wider community coming together to celebrate.
A special thank you to Crystal and Todd for all their help in the kitchen—we really appreciate your support! 💙

🎉🎉Today is the day🎉🎉
Kindergarten Taranaki is now officially Whānau Manaaki Kindergartens!
These are exciting times ahead for our kindergartens, and for early childhood education in Taranaki.
The joining of our two associations will ensure the continuation and advocacy of high quality kindergarten education for tamariki in our region.
Parents and whānau, tamariki and staff in Taranaki will benefit from the support and resources provided by Whānau Manaaki – a large and long established kindergarten association.
You will notice that our kindergartens signs have changed to have the Whānau Manaaki branding on them, but we want to reassure you that your tamariki will continue to have the same caring Kaiako each day at kindergarten, and benefit from the same high-quality teaching and learning practises that you are used to.
If you have any questions, please have a chat with your Head Teacher.
