πŸ“±πŸ’š A quick reassurance for our whānau πŸ’šπŸ“±

With all the recent conversations in the media around device use in Early Childhood Education, we wanted to take a moment to reassure our families about how technology is used here at Lollipops Aubrey Street.

Technology at our Centre is used primarily to capture and document tamariki learning, share their experiences with whānau, support music and movement activities, and occasionally for supervised online research when children are exploring topics of particular interest.

Our tamariki do not have free access to screens, tablets, or other devices during their time with us. We believe that the most valuable learning happens through play, exploration, creativity, social interactions, and meaningful relationships with their peers, teachers, and environment.

Our focus remains firmly on providing rich, hands-on learning experiences that support children's development, curiosity, and wellbeing.

Just look at these amazing bliss balls our talented cook has been creating! 😍

Not only are they absolutely delicious, they're also: βœ… Refined sugar free
βœ… Dairy free
βœ… Egg free
βœ… Nut free

Packed full of wholesome goodness, they're a nutritious treat our tamariki can enjoy as part of a balanced and healthy diet. ❀️

Our children are incredibly lucky to be served such delicious, nutritious kai every day. Of course, quality control is very important around here... which means quite a few of our kaiako take their roles as official taste testers very seriously! πŸ˜‰ We wouldn't want to serve anything that hasn't been thoroughly sampled first!

A big thank you to our cook, Renee, for continuing to provide such wonderful, nourishing food that supports our tamariki to learn, play, and grow.

🌟 A Real-Life Fire Drill... With Special Guests! πŸš’πŸ¦† 🌟

Last week, we experienced an unexpected event when our fire alarm went off for real!

After a brief moment of uncertainty, it was all hands on deck as our team sprang into action and carried out a flawless evacuation. Our teachers guided the children calmly and confidently to our assembly point, and we couldn't be prouder of how everyone responded.

Just as we were gathering safely outside, not one, but two fire engines arrived to check our centre and make sure everything was safe before we returned indoors. πŸš’πŸš’

The firefighters gave the all-clear, and thankfully there was no danger. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to see our emergency procedures in action and meet some real-life community heroes.

Adding a touch of Lollipops magic to the occasion, our resident feathered friends couldn't resist getting involved! πŸ¦†πŸ¦† The two ducks joined us at the assembly point, seemingly determined to make sure we were following all the rules and doing everything properly. They certainly took their supervisory role very seriously!

A huge thank you to our amazing teachers and children, who all did an incredible job. We're so proud of the calm, capable way everyone worked together to ensure a safe outcome for all.

Just a sample of some of the delicious kai our tamariki get to enjoy every day. Morning tea was yummy raspberry, honey and cinnamon porridge and the tamariki loved it! Raspberries are a nutrient dense fruit loaded with fibre, antioxidants and essential vitamins that support our overall helth.
Lunch was cottage pie but you would be forgiven for wondering where the vegetables are - until you see the huge pile that gets cooked and blended to create the sauce! With lentils and beef mince all topped with yummy mashed potato and a dash of cheese on top it's no wonder this meal is a hit!

πŸ₯πŸ¦† Meet Our New Mascots! πŸ¦†πŸ₯

If you've been around Lollipops Aubrey Street lately, you may have noticed a very special pair of visitors who seem to have adopted us as part of their daily routine!

These friendly ducks have become quite the celebrities over the past few weeks. Most mornings, they're waiting to greet us in the carpark before making their rounds to visit each of our playgrounds. The Juniors have even started feeding them a few oats to help keep them happy and coming back for more visits. 😊

They've certainly made themselves at home. In fact, one day our determined feathered friend was spotted at the front door, tapping away with her bill as if she was asking to come inside and join the fun!

Our tamariki have loved watching and learning about our new visitors, and these daily duck appearances have brought lots of smiles, excitement, and conversations throughout the centre.

We love having these unexpected guests brighten our days and can't wait to see where they'll pop up next! πŸ’›

Yesterday we said goodbye to our wonderful friend Fiadh as she begins her exciting school journey.

Fiadh has been such a treasured part of our Centre. Her confidence shines brightly, she keeps us all smiling with her fantastic sense of humour, and she is a caring and loyal friend to those around her. Whether she was making others laugh, helping a friend, or embracing new challenges with enthusiasm, Fiadh always brought something special to our days.

We are so proud of the incredible young person you have become and know that you are more than ready for this next adventure. Your friends and teachers will miss you heaps, but we can't wait to hear all about the amazing things you'll do at school.

🌟 Sharing Our Passions with Confidence 🌟

One of our amazing tamariki had something very special she wanted to share with her friends today... her Highland dancing! πŸ’ƒ

Dressed in her beautiful dancing outfit, she proudly came into the centre and treated us all to a wonderful performance. The confidence, courage, and joy she showed as she danced in front of her peers was truly inspiring to see.

At Lollipops, we love creating opportunities for tamariki to share their interests, talents, and passions with others. Moments like these help build confidence, strengthen a sense of belonging, and allow children to celebrate what makes them unique.

Ka mau te wehi! We are so proud of you and grateful that you shared your love of Highland dancing with us all. ❀️

Our bodies are amazing, and what an exciting time it is to be a toddler, discovering everything they are capable of! πŸ’›

Whether we're running, climbing, jumping, swinging, pretending to be cows in the sandpit πŸ„, running some more, learning to use tongs, or exploring countless other physical challenges each day, there is so much learning taking place.

Through movement and play, our tamariki are developing strength, coordination, balance, confidence, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of what their bodies can do. The best part is that so much of this learning happens naturally, often without them even realising it!

Every wobble, climb, scoop, jump, and giggle is helping to build the foundations for future learning. We love watching our tamariki explore, challenge themselves, and celebrate what their incredible bodies can achieve. 🌟
