Fitzroy Kindergarten

Our tamariki love literacy, especially sharing and exploring books together. Today, we had the privilege of welcoming Walt and Ren from Puke Ariki Library, who visited to read with our tamariki. Their storytelling was interactive, engaging, and lots of fun. We especially enjoyed discovering that two of the books chosen by chance were actually part of the same series – a wonderful surprise that added to the excitement!

Yesterday morning, our tamariki welcomed Amanda Clinton-Gohdes to kindergarten. Through listening, asking questions, voting for their favourite story, and tallying the results, tamariki experienced active citizenship and learned that their voices matter.

Amanda shared The Little Kiwi's Matariki, and tamariki later extended their learning by creating our newest storytelling table with Whaea Katherine. These meaningful experiences strengthen communication, participation, and connections with our wider community.

We have been preparing for Matariki and Puanga this afternoon. The season is another great opportunity for whānau to get together to celebrate what's gone before and what is ahead. Mānawatia a Puanga!

At Fitzroy Kindergarten, we value creating intentional learning experiences that grow from tamariki interests and curiosities. Today, we were fortunate to welcome one of our kindergarten dads, a local jeweller, who shared his knowledge with us.
