The Senior speech finals were held this week. Ms Murphy and Ella Bartlett were the judges this year and had a very difficult job as the quality was outstanding.

Well done to our nine finalists and a huge congratulations to our top three.

A very successful Cupcake Cafe yesterday! Our bakers were raising money for the SPCA and brought along some very impressive and delicious cupcakes for our students to buy.

An absolute huge thank you to all of those who helped to raise money for a very worthwhile cause! The total will be shared once it has been verified, but we can confirm it is our highest amount yet, approximately $740!! Such an amazing effort!

Dear Parents and Whanau,

A dedicated group of 35 Year 4-6 children will be busy baking delicious cupcakes this week for our SPCA Cupcake Day appeal.

Your child can bring in a donation of $2.00 on Wednesday 16th September and choose a delicious cupcake to eat.

Our cupcake stall will be held in Cullinane class at morning tea.

All money raised will go to the SPCA - Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Thank you!

Fifteen of our Year 6 leaders attended a Lead Conference at City West Church on Friday 14th August.

They all had many positive things to share about the day and represented St Joseph's extremely well. They listened to many inspiring people and spent the day amongst forty other Taranaki schools. The children can be very proud of how they conducted themselves throughout the day. Well done!

Last Thursday, 28 Year 6 students and their whānau spent a magical day in Ōkato taking care of our environment as kaitiaki. The students saw their hard work come full circle - planting seedlings over a year ago and finally embedding them into the earth as flourishing native shrubs to protect our local waterways!

A huge thank you to Mieke from Trees for Survival, the Kerr family, our whānau helpers, and our generous sponsors, IncaFe and Todd Energy, for making this milestone day possible.

Both our Netball and Football Interschool teams competed in their semi-finals today.

Football played St Pius at St Joseph's and our netball team headed to St John Bosco. Both teams had played extremely well to make it this far.

Unfortunately, we won't be playing in the finals next week. Football lost 7-1 and Netball lost 19-7. Both teams can be really proud of their season this year and we congratulate them for making it through this far in the competition.

Thank you to all parents and supporters who have helped over the Interschool season. It is always a great sporting event for our children.
