Giving Back!

A huge shoutout to our awesome junior students who have been giving back and supporting Intermediate Winter Tournament Week!

We’ve had one crew out supporting Netball and Basketball in Nelson alongside the Nelson Intermediate Cluster, while another group headed over to Motueka to support the Intermediate Cluster across Tasman. 👏

It’s fantastic to see our Nayland students stepping up, getting involved and helping create positive sporting experiences for our younger rangatahi.

Well done team! We hope you’ve had an awesome and enjoyable few days - you should be proud of the way you’ve represented Nayland

What a showdown in the Girls A Grade Final!

It was an all-Nayland battle as our Nayland Senior A Girls took on our Nayland Junior A Girls, and WOW, what a game!

The lead went back and forth all night, with grit, determination, fight and epic sportsmanship from everyone on the court.

There could only be one winner… but it came down to the wire!

☀️ WHAT AN AFTERNOON AT NAYLAND! ☀️

Yesterday was one for the books as we hosted TWO sporting fixtures at Nayland - and what an atmosphere we had!

Nayland 1st XI Football vs Nelson College 1st XI

What a thriller! The game went right down to the wire, with the possibility of a penalty shoot-out looming! While Nelson College ultimately took home the Jill Heath Memorial Cup, our Nayland 1st XI can hold their heads high after an outstanding performance.

You left everything out on the field, boys -well done!

🏉 NAYLAND-STAGS vs WAIMEA U15

It was also a special afternoon for our Nayland-Stags Rugby team, who hosted Waimea U15 in a friendly.

It’s been a number of years since we’ve had a rugby fixture hosted here at Nayland, so seeing the field filled with players, supporters and our school community was pretty special!

📣 AND THE CROWDS SHOWED UP!

Both games drew awesome support, creating an epic afternoon atmosphere in the sunshine. Students, staff, whānau and supporters all getting behind our teams - this is exactly the kind of positive, supportive sporting culture we want to keep building at Nayland.

Yesterday was about more than just the results. It was about bringing our school community together, creating opportunities for our students and showing what Nayland Sport can look like when we all get behind it.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, coached, supported, officiated, organised and came along to cheer from the sidelines.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along this evening to hear more about the Nayland Institute of Sport (IOS) Programme! 🙌

We were absolutely blown away by the turnout and by how many students are already keen to apply for next year. The excitement and enthusiasm in the room was awesome to see!

A massive shoutout to Ms West for putting together such a great evening. We genuinely couldn’t have anyone more passionate about leading this programme and helping our students reach their potential.

A special thank you also to our IOS graduates. Micah, Emma, Harriet and Liam for sharing your experiences and giving our future applicants an insight into what the IOS journey is all about. 👏

We’re incredibly lucky to have a programme like this right here at Nayland College, supporting our students to grow, challenge themselves and pursue excellence both in sport and beyond.

🥏TSS DISC GOLF CHAMPS!🥏

What a day for Nayland Disc Golf!

Last Friday, we had 6 students proudly representing Nayland at the TSS Disc Golf Championships, competing against a strong field of players from across the region.

🏆 JUNIOR CHAMPION - JAMES PARKER! 🏆

What an incredible result! James not only took out the Junior Division, but his outstanding score would have been good enough to win BOTH the Junior AND Senior competitions!

CADENCE RHODES also made the Junior Division podium with a fantastic performance!

A huge congratulations to all six of our students who got out there, competed and represented Nayland.

A big thank you to everyone involved in making the day happen and providing our students with another awesome opportunity to compete, have fun and develop their skills.

Our Year 11 student Kahlan took the time to come along on Wednesday and put his passion for sports photography into action, capturing some awesome moments of our SNA A Netball girls competing at the TSS Netball Competition.

🏀 GIRLS BASKETBALL | A GREAT WEEKEND OF HOOPS! 🏀

Over the weekend, our awesome PE staff Jodi & Abbe pulled together a fantastic Mini Girls Basketball Tournament to give our Nayland teams some valuable game experience heading into Tournament Week!

We were stoked to have Waimea, Nelson College for Girls and Marlborough Girls’ College join us for a weekend of competitive basketball, great learning and plenty of fun.

Our Nayland girls picked up some great wins and, more importantly, gained some valuable experience. Well done girls -keep putting in the mahi! 🏀👏

A huge thank you to our local schools for getting behind the weekend, travelling over and helping make the tournament such a success. We love seeing our schools working together to create more opportunities for our rangatahi!
