🍋 Lemon-y Fun in the Pikopiko Room! 🍋

Today our Pikopiko tamariki explored a zesty sensory experience with lemons straight from our very own lemon tree out the back! 🌳💛

We set up a messy tray filled with sliced lemons, lemon juice, and water for the children to squish, squeeze, and smell. The tangy scent filled the air as little hands explored the textures and tastes — such a refreshing way to connect with nature and use the beautiful fruit growing right here at our centre!

Learning through nature, one lemon at a time! 🍋✨

🎳 MOVE program-fun in action! 🎳

As part of our MOVE program, the tamariki had a blast playing ten pin bowling using toy pins and a bouncy ball! This activity helped support their coordination, motor skills, and turn-taking — all while having lots of laughs and cheering each other on. It's amazing how movement can be both fun and meaningful in their learning journey! 💪✨

🎨✨ Creative Provocations for Curious Minds ✨🎨

This week, our environment has been bursting with inspiring provocations for our tamariki to dive into the world of learning. From textured collaging, loose parts, and even an old projector-every corner offered an invitation to imagine, explore, and create. 🖌️🍃🧵

These open-ended setups not only encouraged artistic expression but also supported fine motor skills, storytelling, and sensory exploration. It was beautiful to see the children experimenting with materials and proudly sharing their unique masterpieces.

At Busy Bees, we believe in the power of process over product—nurturing creativity, confidence, and joy through hands-on learning. 💛

📚 Library excursion at Tāhunanui School! 📚

Our tamariki had an excursion to the Tāhunanui School library! It was such a treat to step into a new environment full of books, wonder, and learning. 🏫✨

We explored shelves stacked with colourful stories, curious facts, and magical tales. The children were so engaged—turning pages, discovering new favourites, and even enjoying a group story time that had everyone captivated.

What a beautiful way to foster a love for reading and support our little learners as they grow in confidence and curiosity. Thank you Tāhunanui School for having us! 💛📖

☁️ Cloud Dough Creations in Pikopiko Room! ☁️

Our little explorers in the Pikopiko Room got stuck into some gloriously messy play with cloud dough! Soft, squishy, and oh-so-satisfying to touch – cloud dough invited our tamariki to dig, shape, and squeeze their way through sensory discovery. 👐✨

Messy play like this isn't just fun – it's rich with learning opportunities. As little hands mixed, molded, and experimented, they built fine motor skills, explored texture, and embraced creativity.

Sometimes the messiest moments are the most meaningful 💛

🎨💧 SPLASH, SCOOP & SORT 💧🎨

Our tamariki have been diving into a colourful and hands-on experience using the water trough, plastic coloured balls, and pasta utensils! This fun activity is more than just play — it’s helping build hand-eye coordination and colour recognition in such an engaging way.

With each scoop and splash, our little learners are developing fine motor skills and making meaningful connections through sensory play. 🟡🔵🔴

Who knew learning could be this much fun? 😍

💭When imagination runs wild... magic happens! ✨
With loose parts play, our tamariki are free to explore, create, and imagine without limits. From crates to bins — everyday objects become castles, boats, and entire worlds in their hands. 🏰🌿🐉
Loose parts spark curiosity, invite problem-solving, and nurture creativity in the most beautiful ways.

Let the imagination soar! 💭👐

🌟 Provocation Highlight at Busy Bees! 🌟

At Busy Bees, we love setting up rich provocations that spark curiosity, invite exploration, and inspire creativity in our tamariki. These highlight was no exception — thoughtfully arranged materials invited the children to wonder, question, and create in their own unique ways. 🧠✨

Whether it was experimenting with textures, exploring light and shadow, or diving into imaginative play, our tamariki led the way with their ideas and enthusiasm. These moments support critical thinking, communication, and a lifelong love for learning.

🧒 “Nā ngā tamariki te tūhuratanga e ārahi” – Let the exploration be led by the children. 🌿
