Kia ora e te whānau!

Did you know that Mary and I are dancing in a kindy fundraising show this Saturday!? (and next Friday and Saturday nights too!). I never thought I would be saying those words hahaha. Dancing is very much not my strong point and man alive has it been a learning curve. The lengths we will go to for tamariki!

This show is put on at Broadgreen Intermediate every year and is a huge fundraiser for us. It supports every kindergarten in being able to take external trips and to get in amazing professional development opportunities.

There are a few great ways you can support us in this mahi! You can come to the show (if you promise not to look too closely at my moves haha), you can can volunteer to help on the night serving drinks/doing dishes/with raffles, you can donate goods or vouchers to raffles, share the links on your facebook, or donate some snacks for us to sell throughout the show.

It is hard to explain how big this event is! It fills the whole hall and we have been practicing since March! Mary and I are in about 11 songs each and each one comes with an outfit change! It is also important to note this is a show for the grown ups only!

You can book here:

If you are able to help let Mary or I know and we can share more details!

Ngā mihi nui e te whānau!

❤️🖤🤍Kai Paraire🤍🖤❤️

The final (and most delicious) post for Mahuru Māori has to be parāoa parai!

This link takes you to Maimoa Creative and her beautiful recipe full of information, photos, and a video. She explains it all in an easy to follow way in Reo Māori and reo Pakeha.

There is even a list of favourite topping options! What are yours? I find it pretty hard to top butter and golden syrup though have been known to enjoy it with some dairy milk popped into melt whilst still hot! Offfft!

A no-fail fry bread (or fried bread) recipe that will get you perfect results every time! Crispy and golden brown on the outside, and perfectly fluffy on the inside. Tasty as is, or can be served with butter and golden syrup, on the side of a roast, with boil-up, or used as buns for delicious Māori...

🤍🖤❤️Pukapuka Tāite❤️🖤🤍

The final pukapuka link is one for our pēpi! These board books are an awesome way to introduce new kupu for pēpi and whānau alike. We love these at Matangi Āwhio! There are now three series available covering a wide range of topics.

Tahi-Reo Pēpi's first series is aimed at 0-5 year old's and their whānau members. Find simple, repetitive sentences you will use in everyday situations and plenty of new kupu for your vocabulary. The illustrations are created with aroha and will be a delight for all readers. Each pukapuka features...

❤️🖤Kēmū Tūrei❤️🖤

This kēmū is a reo version of Spot It! You can print out the cards and use them to learn new kupu and get competitive!

The kaupapa for te wiki o te reo Māori this year is Kia kaha te reo Māori! Let's make the Māori language strong! One way we’ve been celebrating this kaupapa with our Garden to Table schools and kura this week is through creating some new kēmu (games) that tamariki can play to practise the kupu...
