Richmond School - Nelson

A reminder the church car-park will be CLOSED on FRIDAY AFTERNOON due to the junior cross-country using part of their grounds.

Next Tuesday 26th May is our annual cross-country event at Rabbit Island.

Our Middle syndicate (Rooms 6, 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13) and our Senior syndicate (Rooms 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10) children are involved in races in the morning, leaving school by bus, at 9:15am.

Our Junior children are also bused out to Rabbit Island, leaving school at 11:30am.

All children have lunch there and then play on the beach for the afternoon.

Our wonderful PTC (Parent-Teacher Committee) always cook a BBQ sausage for every child (as per a recent newsletter).

They require a few more parents or grandparents to volunteer to help out with cooking the sausages. Usually from 11:15am until 12:30pm.

A reminder school is closed for instruction this Friday, 15th May. This is our Accord Day with all staff having PD.

Our senior choir performed four songs at ANZAC memorial park in Richmond last week. This included a special song called 'Lest We Forget'. We also had John Jones play the 'Last Post and Reveille'. We invited members from the RSA, and they shared family medals, photos and stories with the children afterwards.

Representatives from Room 15 presented a wreath at the ANZAC day celebration, made by the children in their room. Ngā mihi nui to you all.

There is a citizenship ceremony at the Church on the Hill this afternoon, so the church carpark will be closed.
