Friday Kai Table – Daffodil Day Baking!

A huge thank you to everyone who generously provided baking for our Daffodil Day bake sale today. We were blown away by the delicious and HUGE amount of baking that was donated! 💛 It was so lovely to see our school community getting behind such a great cause.

We do have some delicious baking left over, and we definitely don’t want it to go to waste!

There will be a baking table set up near the Kai Table, outside the senior block, so please feel free to come along and choose something yummy. If you can, a gold coin donation for the baking would be appreciated to pass onto the Cancer Society, but the main thing is that we get to share it and enjoy it rather than see it go to waste. 😊 Please bring a container if you would like to grab some baking.

The Friday Kai Table is also well stocked this week, with lots of
🥦 Fresh vegetable produce
🍎 Apples
🥔 Potatoes
🍇 Packets of sultanas
🥛 Milk powder

As always, please take what you need. 💛

Thank you again to everyone who contributed, baked, bought and supported our Daffodil Day fundraiser. We really appreciate our amazing school community! 💛

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent firewood raffle with proceeds going to the Pastoral Fund. We are delighted to announce the winner.

🔥 And the winner is… Allan Price! 🎉

Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who entered our firewood raffle and helped make it such a success!

A very special thank you to the family who generously donated the firewood. ❤️ The wood was left to the girls by their much-loved grandfather, Frank, who sadly passed away recently. We’re grateful that his legacy could help bring some warmth to another family while supporting HSS.

Congratulations again to our lucky winner, and thank you everyone for your support! 🔥

Tickets for the upcoming production have been selling like hotcakes! The first show (Wed 26th) has less than 30 tickets left, and the other shows are down to between 60-80 seats. We would hate for whānau to miss out, so make sure you come into the office and get your tickets ASAP to avoid disappointment.

Reminder: Tomorrow is Daffodil Day, so encourage your child to dress in yellow and bring along a small gold coin donation or money for the bake sale to support this worthy cause.

Tickets for our 2026 production, Honey, the Kids are Stuck in the 90s, go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday 12 August, from 8:15am on the Top Court. Tickets are $5.00 each.

To help ticket sales run as smoothly as possible, please:
💵 Bring cash. EFTPOS and bank transfer will also be available, but we only have one machine, so there may be delays.
🎟️ Know which performance and cast you are buying tickets for. Some lead roles, syndicates and main cast members perform on specific nights only.
❤️ Please be mindful that tickets are very limited. For the first few days, we ask that you purchase tickets for your immediate family only, so all HSS whānau have the opportunity to see their children perform.

Any remaining tickets will be made available to the wider community from Monday 17 August. If you need to return or exchange tickets this needs to be done through the school office only. Tickets will only be available via the school.

Show Dates:
Wednesday 26th August - Cast A
Thursday 27th August - Cast B
Monday 31st August - Cast A
Tuesday 1st September - Cast B

General Reminders
All shows begin at 6:00pm, with doors opening at 5:45pm.

Children under 2 years are welcome to sit on a parent or caregiver's lap without a ticket, but there are no spare seats available.

Please note that leaving during a performance is disruptive to both the audience and the performers, therefore we ask that audience members remain for the entire performance. Supervision is provided for all performers in their classrooms, allowing whānau to relax and enjoy the full show together. Likewise, children who have finished performing are not permitted to join the audience after their part.

Kia ora, parents and caregivers
Today we sent out a link to our 2027- 2029 strategic survey on the Hero App.

Have Your Say – Help Shape the Future of Our School
In 2027, we begin a new strategic planning cycle. Our 2027–2029 strategic direction will help guide the future of our school, so it is really important that we hear from the many people who make up our school community — parents, caregivers, students, staff, iwi, cultural groups, and our wider community.

The first step in this process is our Strategic Planning Survey. The feedback we receive will help us identify what matters most to our community and will shape the next stages of consultation and, ultimately, our strategic direction.

We would love as many parents and caregivers as possible to complete the survey. It should take around 12 minutes, and every response will help us build a clearer picture of what our community values and what you would like to see prioritised over the coming years.

As a small thank you for your time, at the end of the survey you will find a code word. Write this code word on a piece of paper along with your name and contact number, and return it to the school office to go into the draw to win two adult movie tickets.

The survey closes at 3.00 pm on Monday 31 October.

Your voice matters, and we really appreciate you taking the time to help shape the future of our school. Go to your Hero App to find the link to the survey.

Porduction Props, SOS
We are urgently on the hunt for landline telephones and video tapes in their boxes for our school production.

If you have any gathering dust at home, send them to Room 2 or the office. If you would like them back after production, please clearly name the items. If they are not needed back we will store or dispose them as needed.

🍎 Kai Table Available This Afternoon 🍎

Our Kai Table will be out this afternoon for our Hampden Street School whānau.

Today we have potatoes, muesli bars and some delicious yoghurt available. The yoghurt has a Best Before date of 16 July 2026. A Best Before date relates to quality rather than food safety, and as the yoghurt has remained continuously refrigerated, it is still suitable to consume if it looks, smells, and tastes as it should, up to 7 days.

Please only take what your whānau will use so everyone has the opportunity to share.

We look forward to seeing you this afternoon! 💚
