Matariki, Herenga Waka!

We had a great day at the Founders Book Fair today. A bus ride, 3 books, a sausage, and a train ride! Thanks Lions for making it happen, you are all awesome, and thanks to our friends Nelson Victory for inviting us on their train trip. Whanāutanga!

Founders Lions Book Fair Trip is still happening tomorrow. Thanks Lions for providing buses. We still need whānau help for the morning, if you can help please let Justin know.

This week Trafalgar and Nile Tahi classes visited Nelson Airport New Zealand to learn all about Aorere Ararau - the recently installed 22 metre long airborne waka that acts as a gateway into the region. What an awesome experience for our tamariki to learn about the stories and identity of Te Tauihu.

Congratulations Konrad and Craig! What a wonderful friendship you have!!

🎉 One year of friendship for Konrad (Little) and Craig (Big)!

Sam, their Mentoring Coordinator, caught up with this awesome School-Based match at Auckland Point School to celebrate their one-year anniversary, complete with certificates, BBBS pins, and a big chocolate muffin each. They just had to make sure Craig’s dogs didn’t get their chops into them first! 😊

Over the past year, Konrad and Craig have built a wonderful friendship full of baking cookies, hanging out with Craig’s dogs, building miniature models, playing Battleships, getting competitive over Monopoly, and making cards for others.

Konrad says Craig is “awesome, cool, and playful”, while Craig describes Konrad as “happy, funny, and cheeky, in a good way!”

A beautiful friendship, and one we can see continuing for a long time yet. 💛
