Kia ora e te whānau,
This week marked the completion of the Lower Queen Street Bridge, a significant milestone in the Borck Creek flood minimisation project.
Named Te Rourou, the bridge acknowledges the rich history of the Waimea Plains and estuary as a treasured food basket that has sustained communities across the region for generations. It also features striking iwi kōwhaiwhai designs across its eight main structural posts, each unveiled by the iwi of Te Tauihu.
👉Representing Ngāti Tama, our Associate Trustee, Dan Solomon, was proud to unveil our iwi's design. 👍
This milestone celebrates partnership, cultural identity, and the shared history of Te Tauihu, creating a lasting legacy for the Tasman community. 🥰
