We got lucky! 🎉

Aikido Nelson’s name was drawn for a $500 microgrant in the very first recipient draw for The Boring Fund Aotearoa! Huge thanks to them for the support!

And while we’re on the topic of funding - is there anyone in our community who enjoys grant writing? 📝

We want to celebrate our 40th anniversary in style next year. Having someone to help secure funding would make a HUGE difference! If you're keen or know someone who might be, drop a comment or send us a message!

We want to take a moment to give a huge thank you to Lucy, who wrapped up her time teaching our Little Samurai class last week. 🥋❤️🥋❤️

When Lucy first started the Little Samurai programme in Term 2 2025, she built it entirely from scratch with patience and a lovely, positive energy. Managing a mat full of high-energy "little rascals" is definitely no easy feat, but Lucy created a fun, structured and welcoming space where every kid left with a smile - and kept coming back for more every week.

Her impact has rippled beyond the kids' classes. Thanks to her classes, several of our Little Samurai parents were inspired to step onto the mats themselves and join our adult classes!

Lucy has brought real value to our club community, and while we will miss seeing her lead the little ones, we are truly grateful for what she built.

Thank you, Lucy!
Please join us in wishing her the absolute best! 🙌✨

🌸 Honoured to perform at Miyazu Garden! 🌸

Today, our dojo had the privilege of demonstrating Aikido at the Nelson Cherry Blossom Festival, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Nelson-Miyazu Sister City relationship. 🇳🇿🇯🇵

Thank you to the Nelson Miyazu Sister City Association, the visiting delegation from Miyazu, and everyone in the Nelson community who stopped by to watch, support, and join in the celebrations under the blossoms.

Interested in trying Aikido yourself? Everyone is welcome at our dojo, from complete beginners to experienced martial artists. Drop us a message or visit us during a class to find out more!

🥷 What's one of the key skills you need to be a good Little Samurai Sensei? Problem solving! 🥷

Four of our Little Samurai Senseis traded teaching for a stint at Xscape Rooms today. Can their problem-solving skills get them out before time runs out?

Great seeing everyone at the 'My Time My Life' Expo on Saturday!

Thanks to all who stopped by the Aikido Nelson stall at Founders Heritage Park to check out our demo. It was awesome connecting with local families and sharing practical safety skills for our tamariki.

The Last of Stedfast!
🙀 When the Little Samurai found out Stedfast won't be teaching on Mondays anymore, they took matters into their own hands and didn't let him leave without a fight (and a huge pile-on). We're going to miss you on Mondays, Stedfast! ❤️

Luckily, Anna D. is stepping up to take the reins, so our Little Samurai won't miss a single beat—or a single class. 😻
