Staff vs. Prefects. Three games....three days. Men v Boys.

The deets:

After winning 3-2 in the Football on Tuesday, the Prefects came back to win the Basketball yesterday 35-27 courtesy of some appalling staff shooting. Today we held firm and won the Volleyball 2-0! Without a doubt there will be controversy and post match disciplinary hearings, but the staff proved we can still hold our own against our young flexible leaders! Well done everyone.

Sending our prayers to Guy Barber who is recovering from a pulled hamstring – it's a wonder that's not the only injury. Hopefully not too bad.

Term 4 we will have a Staff vs. Students Cricket match and potentially some more fixtures. Maybe Dodgeball🤔

Today we honoured the young men who have gone above and beyond in pursuit of their goals, who show up consistently, who volunteer their time and who all add something special to the fabric of our school.

From sporting national champions, to budding archivists, students who haven't missed a day of school all year and those who achieved excellence for every subject, today was a fantastic occasion that reminded us of the power of persistance!

If you want something badly enough, and work towards it consistently, you can achieve it. Well done to all our boys who crossed the stage today. The kākā campaigning legends of 9A Social Studies went right to the source last week, visiting The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary. Armed with binoculars and a wildlife-tracking antenna, the lads managed to locate around three kākā but unfortunately, they remained elusive and hidden in the trees! The boys were treated to a tuatara catching the first rays of spring sunshine.
The students have spent this term learning about New Zealand’s changing environment with Forest and Bird’s Bird of the Year competition as a vehicle for doing so. The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary is doing great work in Nelson creating a viable habitat for precious taonga, and we're lucky to be able to get along!
