Introducing Delwyn and Paul McKennie who are our local owners with a passion for the education of our children!

Delwyn a Napier/Taradale local of over 20 years. I’m a teacher and have been working in the early childhood space on and off for 18 years. Paul and I saw an opportunity to develop an authentic local feel to these centres by increasing our community engagement and building on established relationships. We genuinely care about our tamariki and as parents of 5 grown up children we know what the daily life of a young family can be like. Paul and I welcome your input and feedback so that we can deliver a service that reflects the needs of our whānau.”

What a great day we had today! With all the ills and chills of winter there couldn't be a better time to makes some vitamin C packed lemonade with the children. We loved this awesome experience with such a great delisious outcome. Such fun!

What an amazing evening celebrating Matariki with our whanau. Thank you everyone for coming, what a great evening we had, from creating our stars, creating with the matariki dough. Our remembrance wall and of course our amazing star hunt, the tamariki had a blast hunting out the stars which had been set out for us to find!! And kaiako Jess was lucky enough to see the 9 sisters. All of this was followed by amazing soup made by the tamariki and kaiako Nessy with fry bread on the side made by kaiako Jess. Thanks to our amazing team for working hard to create a special evening.

What a great time we had today at our teddy bears picnic! We had a great turn out of teddies and other soft toys that came to join us today. We were also very spoilt with Jess's hand made pizzas for lunch. Thank you to all the teddies, bunnies, unicorns, and many other soft toys that came to play, we hope you enjoyed your day at Dot Kids Preschool.

The biggest happy birthday to our wonderful Centre manager Bex! We had a great day celebrating with you. We even had some lovely visitors from the Nursery to join us for morning Kai. Such a wonderful time together. We hope you had an amazing day!

Yesterday for Freeze it Friday, we had lots of fun playing with home made snow! A combination of cornflour and hot water made a really cool texture before we mixed some shaving foam in! The tamariki had a ball feeling the different textures and mixing it all up!

Today we made a delicious juice from fruits brought in by our lovely families. This juice was made in celebration of the Matariki star Tupuārangi. We celebrated the kindness of sharing and our gratefulness for the yummy fruits Mother Earth (Papatuanuku) provides us. Everyone helped with peeling the fruits and adding them to the juicer.. the kitchen was full of tamariki, full of love, full of learning and full of fun! Everyone absolutely loved this juice, it was yummy and healthy (I even snuck in some carrots) soooo delicious! We can’t wait to do this again 😊

Today for Wobbly Wednesday Samantha set up an obstacle course for tamariki to balance and wobble over. They had a great time starting at the beginning of the track and worked their way through. They were learning co-ordination and patience as some waited for slower ones in front of them. It was a great activity and we’re thankful for the wonderful sunshine to enjoy it in.

Today Samantha introduced the matariki star Hiwa-I-te-rangi. This is the wishing star and can be looked upon to set goals, wishes and dreams for the year. We all made our own wishes today and these will go up on our (Wishing tree) which is in the process of being made. Be sure to check it out and see the wishes your tamariki have made 😊
