This week, Amelia Kruger will be running a fundraiser to support a project called ‘Toys Not Tears’. This is a Greenmeadows Rotary Club initiative that helps to supply police with toys for children when attending domestic callouts. Our school is helping support this initiative, fundraising to buy more toys for this year.

To support Toys Not Tears, Amelia and her team will be holding a competition “Pin the Treasure” It’s basically a big treasure map, and you can buy a sticker for $2 and place it where you think the treasure is hidden on the map. If your sticker ends up closest to the secret spot, you win one of the prizes. There are 4 prizes to be won 2 x gaming headsets, 1x streaming microphone and a box of custom cupcakes.

It’s fun, and for a good cause. This will be held during morning tea from next Monday to Friday outside the Canteen.

Every dollar we raise will go straight to the Greenmeadows Rotary Club so they can buy more toys for the police to use when they’re helping children through tough moments. So, bring along a couple of gold coins in Week 7, grab a sticker, and get involved.

It’s a small way in which we can make a big difference for kids who really need a bit of comfort.

We currently have places available on all the camps except for Auckland and Kapiti and the Taupo Camp has been able to reduce the cost.

Due to changing some providers we were able to reduce the cost of this Camp. Get a group of friends and come along.

This camp is not for the faint hearted, come ready for action and adventure! You must be a confident swimmer, able to swim at least 50m unassisted, in water that is over your head. You will be pushing your physical and mental boundaries.

Starting your Taupo adventure by walking to the summit of Mt Tauhara, and eating lunch with the best view of the Central Plateau. Working as a team to navigate the Grade 3 rapids in a raft on the Tongariro River, leaping / balancing and falling from great heights on the Rock’n Ropes course. Spare time will include swimming in the thermal AC Baths and Lake Taupo. You will be staying in cabins at The Great Lakes Holiday Park, helping to cook and clean for the group. Day one you will provide your own lunch and the rest of the meals will be prepared by the group. A container of home baking or fruit from you all will help to keep you fed when you’re feeling like a snack. Come with a positive attitude and enjoy the fun and adventure on offer on the Amazing Central Plateau.

Taradale High School is supporting the Cancer Society for Daffodil Day this Friday, 28th of August. Students are encouraged to come to school in casual clothes, wear something yellow, and bring along a gold coin donation. Reminder for Year 10 students to hand in their form with a choice of camp and their deposit payment asap. The Ultimate Auckland Takeover and the Kapiti Coast Experience are full, so please make a choice from the others.

For those who are paying weekly payments, please make sure the entire camp is paid for by Week 4 of term 4.

DanceNZmade Regional Competition

Last Sunday and Monday, our THS dancers competed in the DanceNZmade Interschool Regional Competition. They performed exceptionally well despite facing extremely fierce competition from other kura across the region.

Congratulations to Lucy Taylor, who placed second in her solo category and was awarded a She Shines On Scholarship opportunity. The dance trio of Kayla Smith, Emily Lyon, and Haylee Ferguson were awarded fourth place, while our contemporary team, coached by Ayla Pain, placed fifth.

Our dancers demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills throughout the competition as a number of dancers were affected by illness requiring routines to be re-choreographed at the last minute. Despite these challenges, they remained positive and worked together to deliver wonderful performances.

We are incredibly proud of all they achieved and the way they rose to the occasion in the face of unexpected challenges.

Ka pai tō mahi, team! Well done on your achievements. 👏✨
