Sing, dance and sign! Emma Memma is children’s entertainment reimagined 🤩

Come dressed in your most dazzling shades of green, pink, and orange, and get ready to immerse yourself in a world of fun, imagination and learning.

You'll also have the opportunity to purchase and get your copy of Emma Memma's book signed, so you can bring the magic of her stories home with you!

Did you know the Carillon bells of Clive Square have been ringing out the tunes for nearly 50 years?

Paul Reynolds from the team at Electrotech, has been the Carillon's number one maintenance man since 1999.

Carillons were all the rage in the 1970s! The instrument plays a mix of popular songs, traditional airs and seasonal ditties, depending on the time of year, such as Loyal, Pokarekare Ana and Silent Night. Its distinctive bells ring out every half hour from 11.30am until 2pm, playing four tunes, one minute apart, each time.

🎉 Tamariki and whānau in Bay View now have a new place to hang out and shoot hoops, thanks to Napier City Council - Te Kaunihera o Ahuriri's Napier Mayoral Relief Fund.

Sharing the ribbon cutting duties at yesterday’s official opening of Petane Domain’s first basketball court were Kirsten Wise - Mayor of Napier and Bay View local, Lisa Clark, who successfully led the application to the Mayoral Relief Fund for the project.

There was fancy footwork aplenty from Eskdale School students, who joined Basketball Hawke’s Bay for a few fun games and drills. A special thank you to the team at Basketball New Zealand and Airtime Hoops who also helped to fund the hoop! 🏀

The new basketball court is a fantastic addition to the neighbourhood, and we're looking forward to seeing the community heading outdoors and enjoying this popular space!

Finishing touches, including line markings will be added to the court shortly.

It is seven months since Cyclone Gabrielle hit Hawke’s Bay, and Neeracha Rattanaworametha is still serving meals for people affected by the disaster.

Neeracha, also known as Neela Neela, is originally from Thailand. She was inspired to help the Napier community because of her experiences during the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.

Cooking initially in very difficult conditions, Neela Neela quickly set a new benchmark for caring for others, providing on average 1000 meals a day initially. It is estimated Neela and her helpers have provided about 100,000 meals to date.

She was one of 28 individuals who received a Cyclone Gabrielle Recognition Award on 7 September, along with seven groups, at a special event held at the Napier War Memorial Centre.

Her nominators say Neela is a humble and kind person, who has a way of bringing people together, and motivating them. She is devoted to supporting the people of Hawke’s Bay for as long as she is needed.

Thank you Neela for your sacrifice, your service and your mahi 🙏💛

The New Zealand Symphony Orchestra is set to grace the stage of the Napier Municipal Theatre this upcoming weekend, delivering two extraordinary performances that are not to be missed!

On Saturday 16 September, Violinist Esther Yoo makes her long-awaited debut with the NZSO in Mendelssohn & Dvorak, inspired by the spirit of fun and adventure.

On Sunday 17 September, Latin sounds will fill the air with the Fiesta Espanola performance. From the Bull rings of Madrid, we head to Buenos Aires for Piazzolla’s Sinfonietta, a darkly brooding work with just a hint of Tango.

The Cross Country Drain has transformed into a haven for birdlife, attracted by the many thousands of native trees and shrubs planted by our community since 2021.

The Pirimai Residents Association, which is holding its annual planting day this Saturday, has led the collective effort to enhance this important community asset.

The association's upcoming planting day kicks off at 9:30am on Saturday 2 September. There are over 3000 trees to be planted, starting at the corner of Ulyatt Road and Bill Hercock Street.

A huge shoutout to everyone who's pitched in, you've made such a positive impact in beautifying this community space for future generations to enjoy, thank you! 🙏💙
