Over the past few weeks, our visiting ZYU students have participated in an interactive programme combining English language and Computing studies with industry and cultural experiences.

Alongside their studies, the group explored a range of attractions in Hawke’s Bay and beyond. They also participated in organised events, including the Omron Automation Roadshow and an industry visit to T&G Global.

Through our homestay programme, the students had the opportunity to experience New Zealand family life and expressed their gratitude for the welcome they received.

At the end of their visit, everyone was awarded with a certificate of attendance to acknowledge the time they spent learning on campus.

Reflecting on the impact of the programme, Ethan shared:
“My three-week study tour at EIT in New Zealand has been an unforgettable experience. Our English teacher taught us with great care and responsibility during classes. We also visited local enterprises and the beautiful Lake Taupō. Everything in New Zealand feels full of lively energy, and I enjoyed life here, including time with my homestay family. Overall, this trip broadened my horizons and inspired me to keep learning. I am very grateful for all the help and support from every teacher”.

We wish you all the very best for your future endeavours and hope you will visit us again.

Why does a two-way relationship with China matter to Hawke’s Bay? 🌏

For EIT Chief Executive Lucy Laitinen, it is about much more than international education. It is about nurturing whanaungatanga, building lasting connections and creating opportunities that benefit the wider region.

Following her recent visit to China as part of a ministerial delegation, Lucy shares why Hawke’s Bay has plenty to offer on the global stage and why the strongest international partnerships work both ways. 🤝

Last week, our new students spent the day exploring the region, taking in local attractions, enjoying the views from Bluff Hill Lookout and learning more about our community.

A well-earned ice cream from Rush Munro provided the perfect ending to a day filled with discovery, connection, and memorable Hawke's Bay experiences.

A warm welcome to our students and lecturers from Zhejiang Yuexiu University (ZYU), who are currently visiting EIT as part of our Joint Education Programme partnership.

During their first week, the group visited T&G Global's Whakatu site, gaining valuable insights into New Zealand's horticulture industry and seeing first-hand the technology, innovation, and teamwork involved in delivering premium apples to markets around the world.

The visit made a strong impression on our visiting lecturers:
"I really enjoyed visiting this company. Everything is automatic. Also, I think I saw this brand in China. The fruit is delicious as they pay attention to quality, which is very important in production." Dr Bita Farhadi, Senior Lecturer, Computing

"While I have previously studied simulation, modelling and control in depth, this tour allowed me to understand what is happening in real time. The experience will help me provide practical examples to share with my students." Dr Muhammad Abbas, Senior Lecturer, Computing

The group also had the opportunity to meet with Site Manager, Bhavit Gyan.

“It’s been great to welcome the EIT ZYU group to T&G Global Limited and talk about our purpose which is to grow healthier futures together,” said Bhavit. “It's important, because we are nurturing the talent here in Hawke’s Bay to share the goodness of New Zealand’s amazing apples with the world. Thank you for visiting.”

Thank you to Bhavit Gyan, Alistair Nicoll, and the wider T&G team for hosting the visit and supporting this valuable learning experience.

Around 70 international students joined us this week for an engaging Lunch and Chat session focused on becoming career-ready and building a strong personal brand in New Zealand.

A big thank you to Dress for Success Hawke's Bay for sharing practical advice on making a great first impression. Students learned breathing techniques to calm nerves, strategies to build confidence, how to identify and communicate transferable skills and tips for closing interviews with confidence.

A valuable and inspiring session helping our international students take the next step towards career success in New Zealand.
