✨Well-bring week✨

“Protecting and nurturing health and well-being includes paying attention to aspects of physical care, such as healthy eating and nutrition and opportunities for physical activity. Safe, stable and responsive environments support the development of self-worth, identity, confidence and enjoyment, together with emotional regulation and self-control”.

✨Well-being week ✨

So what is the well-being strand about?

Each strand comes with a set of goals that we, as teachers, support the child to achieve. What this looks like can vary from child to child, and each child may reach a goal as an infant and then work towards achieving it again when they are older. An example of this is “children experience an environment where their emotional well-being is nurtured.” As an infant, this is fostered through key teaching. As they get older, and are ready to move into the next room, they may need to be supported to achieve this goal again through building a relationship with their whānau teacher.

Kate, from Taradale Library, has visited our Kereru children this morning! She read books and sing songs to our tamariki. What a great experience!

✨ Well-being week ✨

“All children have the right to have their health and well-being promoted and nurtured. They also have the right to experience affection, warmth and consistent care. Kaiako have an understanding of Māori approaches to health and well-being and how these are applied in practice. Models such as Te Whare Tapa Wha emphasis the importance of te taha wairua to holistic wellbeing.”

✨ Well-being week ✨

Our curriculum, Te Whāriki, focuses on four principles and 5 strands. Each month, we will have a week where we share more information about each of them to help our whānau understand our programme, and see all the amazing mahi our teachers do for the growth and learning of our tamariki. We will start with the strands, the first one being “Well-being Mana Atua”

Mana Atua is about the health and well-being for the child is protected and nurtured. What does that mean? Check back in tomorrow!

✨ Sensory Week ✨

When should I start sensory play?

Sensory play can start from birth because it can be adapted to suit the ages and stages of the child. Bubbles are huge favourite with children and great example of sensory play that can be enjoyed from our littlest babies, right up to our older tamariki. Even our teachers can’t resist popping and chasing bubbles!
