🌼 Daffodil Day at Mary Richmond 🌼

Today we acknowledged Daffodil Day, and our tamariki had a wonderful time dressing up in yellow! 💛 They enjoyed lots of fun activities, including playing with yellow playdough, face painting with Whaea Fiona, and making yellow icing for their crackers. 🍪🎨

It was such an amazing day filled with fun.

What a beautiful sunny day to end the week at kindergarten. A big thanks to all our relievers who have worked with us this week when our kaiako have been away. After a couple of rainy days we have made use of the sun and been enjoying swings, building and obstacle courses which challenge us in lots of ways. Today we farewelled Malone who is off to Henry Hill School. We sure will miss your smile each morning and trying your best to give us lots of frights during the day. Enjoy your time at school and have lots of fun. Ngā mihi to your wonderful whānau for sharing your learning journey with us.

Kia ora whānau!

Here’s a little recap of our busy week at Mary Richmond Kindergarten. Our tamariki enjoyed lots of wonderful learning experiences, including making bird feeders with Whaea Nic using pine cones, peanut butter and seeds. They then hung them in the trees, showing great kaitiakitanga by caring for our manu and environment. Tino pai, tamariki mā! 🐦🌳💚

The tamariki also had lots of fun making a delicious fruit salad together. The next day, they enjoyed it for morning tea and loved learning about healthy and yummy fruits. 🍎🍓🍌

Kia ora whānau,

Here is a little recap of the amazing week our tamariki have had! 💕

Today we held the closing ceremony for the MRK Commonwealth Games. The tamariki happily held the flags and proudly walked around, celebrating their participation. 🏳️ Tino pai, tamariki! You all did an amazing job throughout the games over the past few weeks. 🌟

The children also enjoyed socialising, exploring, playing and learning alongside their friends. It has been a wonderful week of fun and connection! 💛

Today was the last day of our MRK Commonwealth Games. As requested the children competed in the bunny hop races. Skill and technique were key for getting from start to finish! Everyone tried really hard and all competitors went home with a participation certificate. Ka mau te wehi everyone! Tomorrow our games officially end with our closing ceremony. It has been wonderful to watch the children giving it their all during the different events and showing good sportsmanship towards their peers. Your kaiako are really proud of you all 🏆

The MRK games continue this week and for days six and seven we had bean bag toss and moon hopper racing. Our younger tamariki enjoyed throwing the bean bags into the circles and there was great competition to see what colour they could land in. Our medallist’s were Liiyaahna 🥇 Ike 🥈 Laylahni 🥉mīharo.
The moon hopper race proved to be a popular choice amongst everyone although it was evident not many had used one before. We had the ambulance crew on standby as there was so much carnage and bodies bouncing everywhere along with plenty of laughs. This proved to be a popular sport which continued for most of the day. Congratulations to Manawa 🥇 Quest 🥈 Khymani 🥉. With only two more days of competition before the closing ceremony we will have some more fun activities to compete in.

Today rounded out day five of the MRK games with the Balloon Swatting taking place in front of a packed out audience inside the stadium. The competitors found this one a bit tricky with balloons going everywhere, therefore we had a few appeals with the judge which were dismissed as they reminded everyone about being a good sport and giving everything a go. Our eventual winners were Riria 🥇 Reihana 🥈 Rawinia 🥉. Make the most of your rest days over the weekend as the competition will continue next week, with the closing ceremony on Friday.
