Our biggest and final Daffodil day Cancer Society Fundraiser!

We have purchased 50 fresh daffodils from the cancer society in order to sell these and raise money to go back into our community πŸ’•

From tomorrow you will see the daffodils in our foyer for sale which you can buy 2 different ways-

1- 1 daffodil for a gold coin donation
2- A bunch of 3 daffodils for $5.

We will update you all Monday afternoon with total amount raised over the last 4 weeks of fundraising- watch this space πŸŽ‰

One of the ways we show acknowledgement to our amazing Kaiako is at our staff huis we celebrate two Kaiako who have been going above and beyond to support the Tamariki here at the centre.

Last night Julz and Ashleigh received a certificate and gift card each for their dedication and passion to their job.

Julz-For leading and supporting the team with our local curriculum mahi, including organising the team with professional development to local landmarks, including Ōtātara Pā and the Hawke's Bay Museum, and including this learning into the curriculum

Ashleigh-For her mahi in incorporating Maramataka into Kauri Room, through creating a mara kai garden and looking at outside agencies to extend on this further for the Tamariki.

Both Julz and Ashleigh have shown our Evolve Education NZ values of Mahia te mahi - We thrive on progress and Kia manawanui - We see a world of possibilities.

In Pohutukawa Room recently there has been a large interest in hair salons. A couple of weeks ago we extended this interest by purchasing some hairstyling playsets and this has been an absolute hit with the Tamariki!

Most days you will find a group of Tamariki using their imaginations, and recreating their life experiences with their peers or Kaiako. The noise of the hair dryer is even recreated as children get their hair blow dried!

This morning Kaiako Robyn was getting the deluxe package at the salon! There was cutting, blow waving, hair straightening, as well being given a mirror to check the progress of how it was going.

In Pohutukawa Room this afternoon, some of the Tamariki have been working together on a group painting experience. With our dress up day today, yellow was the colour of choice and the Tamariki each had their own space to create with. Some children wanted to explore the texture of the paint on their hands, by adding their handprints to the artwork. The Tamariki even investigated what happened when you sprayed water onto the painting.

There was amazing communication, acknowledging each other's personal space, and creativity.
