We're excited to launch a brand-new lunchtime club at Tamatea Intermediate – the Deconstruction Club!

Our curious young engineers will be taking apart old and broken technology to discover how it works, what’s inside, and how different components fit together. It's a fantastic hands-on way to develop problem-solving, engineering, and STEM skills.

If you have any old or broken appliances gathering dust, we'd love to give them a second life as learning tools. We're looking for items such as: toasters, computer screens/monitors, hand mixers, stick blenders, fans, and small appliances..or any other broken electronic devices that are safe to dismantle.

If you have something you'd like to donate, please drop it into the school office.

The cast and crew of our amazing production of Aladdin have been hard at work over the past few months learning lines, building props, rehearsing, and everything in between!

This has been a massive effort for all involved and I'm sure everyone will be due for a big rest after the final show tonight.

Svetlana, one of our cast parents, put together this little behind the scenes video of the team preparing for the show - check it out!

A massive thank you to the crew at the Tabard Theatre for supporting our kura in this project, as well as all the staff and whānau that have dedicated their spare time to making this a success.

Congratulations to our Rugby stars!

A huge congratulations to all of our Tamatea Intermediate rangatahi who have been selected for the 2026 Ross Shield Napier Primary Schools Rugby Squad!

This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to your hard work, commitment, sportsmanship, and dedication throughout the season. Being selected to represent Napier is something to be incredibly proud of, and we know you'll wear your jerseys with pride.

We also want to acknowledge the support of our coaches, teachers, and whānau, whose encouragement and commitment have helped our students achieve this success.

We wish all of our players the very best as they represent our school and our community. Play hard, support one another, and most importantly, enjoy every moment of this amazing opportunity!

High School Open Evenings – A Great Opportunity for Our Year 8 Whānau!

As our Year 8 students begin thinking about their next step, we encourage all whānau to attend the upcoming High School Open Evenings.

These evenings are a fantastic opportunity to:
- Meet principals, teachers, and students
- Explore the school grounds and facilities
- Learn about subjects, programmes, and extracurricular opportunities
- Ask questions to help make an informed decision about your child's secondary school journey

We encourage you to attend the schools you are considering and involve your child in the decision-making process.

Over the past 2 weeks, our girls took part in a Girls' Safety and Self-Protection Education programme, learning valuable skills to help keep themselves safe and confident.

Throughout the day, they explored topics such as trusting their instincts, using their voice effectively, de-escalating difficult situations, understanding consent and body boundaries, identifying trusted adults, and building healthy relationships. They also learned practical self-protection strategies, including simple blocking techniques, how to break free from grabs, and what to do if someone becomes physically aggressive.

The programme focused on empowering our wāhine with the knowledge, confidence, and skills to make safe choices, support others, and seek help when needed. We are incredibly proud of the maturity, courage, and engagement our students showed throughout the course.

Our Kura Leaders attended the National Young Leaders Day in Palmerston North today.

This exciting opportunity allowed our student leaders to hear from inspirational speakers who are making a positive impact in their communities, workplaces, and across New Zealand. Through their stories, our tauira gained valuable insights into leadership, resilience, courage, and the power of making a difference in the world around them.

Graci Kim had a draw to give away 8 of her books and we won! Ngā mihi nui to William Pike, Rilley Elliot Lola Fisher, Stephen Gallagher and Graci Kim.

They returned inspired, motivated, and ready to continue leading within our kura. Safe travels and enjoy this amazing experience!
