Drag Race Fun: Moving, Creating and Discovering!
What an exciting and unusual game! The “drag race” quickly captured the children’s attention, with many tamariki eager to join in, have a turn and discover what would happen as their bodies moved across the large piece of paper.

Through this playful experience, children were developing body awareness as they became more conscious of their legs, feet and whole-body movements. They were exploring balance, coordination, spatial awareness and body control, while noticing how their movements changed the marks appearing on the paper.

Most importantly, the children discovered that learning can happen in unexpected and joyful ways. A simple movement became art, a game became an opportunity for discovery, and their bodies became tools for exploration, creativity and communication.

Your much awaited Buns and Dumplings are arriving tomorrow, 3 September, Thursday. Collection begins at 2PM at Carlyle Kindergarten.

💛 Daffodil Day at Kindergarten! 🌼

This Friday, we’re inviting everyone to dress up in yellow as we celebrate Daffodil Day and show our support for an important cause. 💛🌼

Come along wearing your favourite yellow clothes, accessories, or anything bright and sunny! ☀️

Let’s fill our Kindergarten with sunshine, smiles and lots of yellow as we come together to support Daffodil Day. 🌼💛

We can’t wait to see everyone dressed in yellow! 💛

Tēnā rawa atu korua, thank you very much Sharon and Ali who visited us at kindergarten today and took a wonderful group time. Using an interactive game involving every tamariki having their own set of Cuisenaire rakau, blocks and Sharon and Ali singing a waiata about nga tae, colours. This engaging game had the tamariki focusing on the colours as they tried to match up their blocks with Sharon and Ali. We also did the E tu Stand up waiata with the all of the actions. This was a fun way of learning and practising our Te Reo with actions and movement. We look to seeing Sharon and Ali again.

🌿 Keeping Our Kindergarten Community Well 🌿

We know there are a few illnesses making their way around the community at the moment. We kindly ask everyone to help us keep our tamariki, whānau and kaiako well by taking extra care during this time. 💛

If your child is unwell, please keep them at home until they are feeling better and well enough to participate in the Kindergarten day. This helps reduce the spread of bugs and gives everyone the best chance to stay healthy.

A few simple reminders:
🧼 Wash hands regularly
💧 Keep hydrated
😴 Get plenty of rest
🤧 Cover coughs and sneezes
🏡 Keep children home when they are unwell

If this winter has felt harder than usual, you're not alone. We hope everyone is staying warm and dry during season.

Winter bugs tend to reach their peak in July and early August in New Zealand... that's right now 🤧

For many families, that can make attending school more challenging. Between coughs, sniffles, interrupted sleep and caring for sick tamariki, winter can feel like a lot to manage.

We can't avoid every bug, but there are small steps we can take to help prevent the spread of illness and help keep tamariki healthy, learning and connected to school, including:

➡️ Washing and drying hands regularly
➡️ Covering coughs and sneezes
➡️ Keeping indoor spaces fresh and ventilated where possible
➡️ Staying up to date with recommended vaccinations
➡️ Staying home and resting when unwell
