Mount Maunganui College is a co-educational state school located in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand.

It was established in 1958, the same year that Tauranga College was split. At Mount Maunganui College we believe the fundamental purpose of education is to increase young people’s resourcefulness to enable them to cope with life and reach their potential. Our motivation as educators is to develop our students’ character to allow them to become more resilient, resourceful, reflective and reciprocal, preparing them for a lifetime of change.

🎭 MMC Drama Showcase 2026 – A Night of Victorian Melodrama!

What a night! Our Year 12 and 13 Drama students brought the stage to life with three hilarious melodramas; Boo and Hiss, A Penny for Bob and The Virtue of Innocence.

With incredible sets, costumes, music and characters, our packed audience laughed, cheered, booed and hissed their way through an unforgettable night of entertainment! 👏🎬

Get ready for an evening celebrating the creativity, hard work and talent of our Mount Maunganui College Dance students! ✨

Our annual Dance Showcase will feature a selection of NCEA assessment works and co-curricular dance pieces from students across Years 9–13.

Come along and support our dancers as they take to the stage and share the work they have been creating and developing throughout the year.

Vietnam and Cambodia Trip 2028 🇰🇭🇻🇳

Planning is officially underway for the MMC 2028 Southeast Asia Trip! 🌏

Following two incredibly successful tours, we’re excited to offer this unforgettable opportunity to experience the culture, history and communities of Vietnam and Cambodia, while building independence and lifelong memories. This trip will be available to current Year 10 & 11 students (Year 12 & 13 in 2028).

A Night in Hollywood 🎭

What a night at the annual MMC Talent Quest on Wednesday! We saw some incredible performances and so much talent on stage.

Congratulations to acapella group; Butterflies for taking out the win, Kenzie for People’s Choice, and Flynn Augustine for Best Overall Performance! 👏

Earth & Space Science students embarked on an incredible journey through Hawaii and California over the school holidays! 🌴🌌

These students were able to discover more about Earth’s atmosphere and connect their classroom learning to the natural world around them. 🌏🔭

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this unforgettable experience possible. What an amazing opportunity to learn, explore, and see our planet from a whole new perspective! 🙌✨

Students explored the iconic Mount Wilson Observatory gave students the chance to explore a site with incredible astronomical history. Thank you to Dr Jeff Rich for Carnegie Observatories for making this possible 🔭

A huge thank you to Sarah Marcotte from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena for organising another amazing tour

The Keck Institute at Caltech gave students the opportunity to plan a mission returning to their chosen moon or planet! Thank you Harriet Brettle for hosting the group and creating this fun learning experience! 🙌

And the journey ended with Aqua Adventures in Maui for another awesome experience snorkelling with turtles! 🌊🐢

MMC Open Evening – Wednesday 5th August

We warmly invite students and their whānau to join us for our annual open evening and discover what makes our school a great place to learn, grow and succeed.

The evening will run across two sessions:
🕓 4:00–5:30pm
🕠 5:30–7:00pm

Both sessions begin in the School Hall. From there, you can either join a guided tour with one of our students or collect a map and explore our highlighted learning spaces at your own pace.

“Mā tō rourou, mā tōku rourou, ka ora ai te iwi”
Together as learners, we are inspired to grow.
