Yesterday some of our Year 5 & 6 Mounties competed in the Tauranga Book Battle — and what a close competition it was!

Our Mt Bookworms finished an outstanding equal second with 66 points, just one point behind the winning team on 67! They were just pipped at the post in the tie-break question.

The teams had to read and answer questions on five set books, as well as tackle questions on general book knowledge. It takes a huge amount of reading, preparation and teamwork to compete at this level.

We're incredibly proud of our Mounties for their enthusiasm, knowledge and love of reading. Well done!

What an absolute blast of a Maths Week at MMP! A huge shoutout and massive thank you to our awesome whānau for jumping in on the Tic Tac Toe problem solving challenges at home - it really was such a fun way to celebrate all things maths! The kids had a ball with the daily jokes and riddles, the lolly jar competition had everyone guessing, and we wrapped it all up with some epic Friday quizzes and maths fun with our Buddy Classes! Congratulations to our student winners of the Lolly Jar Contents and Friday Quizzes; and to our whānau winners of Tic Tac Toe. We’re so grateful for all your support in making the week such a hit.

Our Term 2 Attendance award winners have been recognised this morning. From our regular school attenders (which is defined as 90% or more) we drew a number of names from a biiiiiiig hat. The 12x winners of a small sweet thank you treat are pictured here.

We also drew out additional names, and this smaller group of 5 were lucky to win a lunch coming up soon with Principal Damien Harris at McDonalds! We will contact those parents shortly.

Additionally as a school we have improved our Term 2 Attendance rates from the previous 5 years worth of Attendance data, so a big thanks to you for getting your children to school - this significantly helps in their school achievement, social skills and outcomes over time. Thanks for your ongoing support.
