Our Lady of the Snows School

Our Lady of the Snows School is a Catholic full primary school for years 0 - 8 situated in the Mid-Canterbury township of Methven.

Our Lady of the Snows is a Catholic co-educational integrated full primary school (Years 0-8) located at 20 Main Street Methven. Our Lady of the Snows was founded in 1913. The current school roll (2021) stands at 34 pupils. The school is divided into two classes covering Years 0-2 in Room 2 and Years 3-8 in Room 1. Extra teaching is done by teacher aides to assist in literacy and numeracy and also

for learning support across other areas of the curriculum. All classrooms are equipped with smart TVs and the senior class has dedicated classroom chrome books and the Junior room has a pod of iPads. The school also features teacher aide rooms for learning support, a multi purpose room, a staff room, office, resource rooms and storage for sports gear and outdoor equipment. All areas of the school are climate controlled and all classrooms feature modern ergonomic furniture for learning activities. Our Lady of the Snows is staffed for small class sizes to better cater for individual learning needs.

Today Our Lady of the Snows was bursting with colour and Christmas cheer! ✨
Our students came dressed in their house colours with a festive twist, ready for a day of creativity and teamwork.

Each house built their very own House Hut, using treasures from home and bits and pieces found around the school. It was wonderful to see everyone designing, decorating, problem-solving, and showing our CARE values in action.

We are so proud of how every student contributed, encouraged one another, and worked together to bring their ideas to life. 💚💙❤️

What an amazing way to celebrate the end of term and the spirit of our school community! 🎅🌟

Thanks to Mid Canterbury Rugby Union for bringing The Meads Cup to our school today. Luckily the igloo we made in the morning stood strong for us to take some photos! ⛄️

This is an incredible achievement – your whānau and your Our Lady of the Snows school whānau are all so proud of you. Wishing you every success as you take the field – play hard and enjoy every moment!

✨🎶 School Disco Fun! 🎶✨

Last Friday night our school was glowing – literally! The multipurpose room was all decorated and filled with music, laughter, and lots of dancing. Thanks to the Friends of the School, the kids were decked out in glow sticks, glasses, light sabres, rings, and more. 🌈

When they needed some fresh air, students spilled out onto the field, lighting it up with colour before heading back in for more songs and dance moves. 💃🕺

It was such a fun night for everyone – a big thank you to all who helped make the disco a success! 💙🎉

Nominations 2025

Nominations are invited for the election of (5) parent
representatives to the Board of Trustees
A nomination form and a notice calling for nominations will
be posted to all eligible voters.
Additional nomination forms can be obtained from the
school office.
Nominations close at NOON on Wednesday 6th August
2025 and may be accompanied by a signed candidate’s
statement.
The voting roll is open for inspection at the school and can
be viewed during normal school hours.
There will also be a list of candidate’s names, as they come
to hand, for inspection at the school.
The poll closes at NOON on Wednesday 10th September
2025.

🎉 Term 2 Birthday Celebration! 🎉

We had a lovely time celebrating our Term 2 birthdays at Primo Café with delicious hot chocolates, cakes, and plenty of laughter! 🧁☕ It was such a special way to take a moment and enjoy each other’s company.

A big thank you to the wonderful Primo Café staff for your warm hospitality and for helping make our celebration so memorable — everything was perfect!
