Well, after a few very quiet months on this page - we are back! 😻

Our remaining International Students, Miyu, Nodoka, Sakura and Shunsei have been working really hard over the Lockdown, completing some great work in ESOL amongst other classes. I have received great feedback from many of their teachers regarding their work ethic, effort and perseverance. It has been a very strange and tricky time completing work online and much of it independently, but these four students have done extremely well. 👏🏼

As New Zealand moves into Level 2, on Thursday and Friday this week there will be Teacher Only Days at school where we will learn more about how school will work when we are back on site, and what changes have been made to our health and safety procedures to ensure everyone’s safety. On Monday the 18th of May, school will reopen. We are very excited about seeing you all again! 👍🏼

We really hope everyone is safe and well wherever in the world they may be. We look forward to this all being over so we can go back to normal, and invite more of our lovely International Students back to our shores. Until then, keep safe and keep in touch 🌏❤️

On Friday the International Crew experienced a ‘classic kiwi beach day out’, at Mount Maunganui. We walked around the Mount, enjoyed a Copenhagen Cone, walked into town and picked up ‘Fush and Chups’ which we of course ate on the beach, with Watties Tomato Sauce! We finished off the afternoon with a few beach games and relays, and a swim in the gorgeous Pilot Bay, before coming back to school and sharing a chocolate cake for Miwa’s birthday! A wonderful day had by all. ⛰🍦🐠🍟🏏🏄‍♂️🏝🎂

A VERY big congratulations to Shiori, pictured right, for gaining University Entrance! Shiori is our first international student to carry on into tertiary education here in New Zealand. We are absolutely thrilled for Shiori and so proud of all the hard work she put in over the three years she was at Matamata College (2017-2019). We wish her all the very best for her studies at Waikato University 👩🏻‍🎓
