Our tamariki deserve the very best start in life.

The proposed changes to ECE funding could have a significant impact on the quality of early childhood education across Aotearoa.
Qualified teachers matter. We are trained professionals who support your tamariki every day, nurturing their learning, wellbeing, social skills, confidence, and the learning dispositions that help them thrive as they transition to school and beyond.

If funding is reduced, many early childhood centres and kindergartens may be forced to make difficult decisions. This could include reducing the number of qualified teaching staff or limiting the additional support some tamariki rely on to flourish.

Today I spotted these three friends enjoying each others company in our bug garden. This seat was recently gifted to us by whānau whose youngest child left us for school.

This past week we’ve been sharing kōrero about New Zealand’s participation in the Commonwealth Games. To extend on this, we held a mini games with an obstacle course. Tamariki enjoyed cheering each other on, challenging their tinana with some supervised risk-taking, showing lots of determination, courage, perseverance and resilience.

Mānawatia a Matariki! At Kahurangi, ngā tamariki have been embracing the spirit of Matariki through, baking recipes that honour our loved ones, creating the nine whetū through arts and crafts, learning new waiata and weaving.

Thank you for joining us for our Matariki Celebration. It was very special to come together as a whānau to share kai, sing waiata, remember those we hold close in our hearts, and welcome the new year in with aroha and connection.
