This looks like good advice if you have a child or family member who would like to paint.
One canvas, three colours, one brush
You don’t need a whole heap of art gear to create something, just imagination and patience!
If if you are shopping for an arty child, keep these things in mind- sometimes less is more, too many different paints or mediums can overwhelm them and they end up giving up easily because they don’t know how to use it.
Also if they are given painting gear, maybe keep in mind a space where they can actually use it. Because nothing is worse than having something messy in a main thoroughfare of your home but also if it’s set up or easy to set up not only will they be more inclined to use it but also you won’t find it such a nightmare either.
It doesn’t have to cost the earth, an old shirt or t shirt - even something cool from an op shop- I use old pinafores, a painting book again second hand often have a fantastic selection, some test pots from resene for the best colour selection you can think of ( keep in mind it can be tricky to get off clothing or furniture, so could be used outside ) canvases can be found at the warehouse or similar and paintbrushes are the same. Invest in one good brush with care instructions like washing it because SO many children still don’t understand that concept! You could even buy a notepad for design, so there is some thought about what to paint.
Just a few ideas from someone that loved and still loves those types of pressies 😜
