The Fourth offe for School Support Staff....

HAS NOT
Meaningfull addressed ANY Of the concerns raised here.

It is actually really really appalling....
-

Support Staff are the oil that make the engine of a WHOLE School Run....

In the case of Teacher Aides...

They are literally key not just to a child's learning...

But also in many cases a student's very dignity and in EVERY CASE....

The reason why many of the nations MOST VULNERABLE LEARNERS IN SCHOOLS... ARE SAFE!!!!
-

I am not impressed and will not be accepting this offer!!!!

First off!!!! It is DEFINITELY NOT Our Kids who are scared or unwilling to be part of Maori things in our Schools.... In my experiences Māori Children and Non-Māori Children RUN to and LOVE Māori things in their School... and thats in both English medium and Māori medium settings... So this 'decision' to erode the mana of Te Tiriti in Education... WAS NOT WITH OUR TAMARIKI AT IT'S HEART!!!!! It is our kids who miss out!!!!!! Secondly: Honouring Te Tiriti in Education, particularly in Primary and Secondary settings is (and I have said this always) about treating EVERY LEARNER LIKE A TAONGA!!!!!! Because EVERY LEARNER IS A TAONGA!!!!! Education IS a partnership between whānau and their school and the tamaiti is the centre. Honouring Te Tiriti means means we all work together for that tamaiti. WE ALL Work together to protect that tamaiti!!!! AND Critically that all stakeholders get a say: Leaders, Educators, Parents and School Community... everyone gets a say and every gets to shape the future!!!! The kids are taonga.... the Kids are the future... Taking TE TIRITI OUT OF EDUCATION... is another way of saying... Learners are NOT at the HEART of this Minister's decision or her Government... the rest of us value the tamariki as Taonga. Partnership, Protection. Participation!!!!!

Standford is at the heart of

* Denigrating our Profession
* Letting Cowboys mess with the kid's futures
* Overloading a stressed, aging, overworked work force
* Shutting out Teacher voice (Teachers are the one's in the Classroom NOT HER)
STANFORD
Is the one....

Not prepared to:
* Listen to Teachers
* Support Teachers
* Support Teaching
* Support Learners
* Support Families

It is STANFORD ALL OVER ...
AGAIN AND AGAIN!!!!!

HERE IS THE REAL STORY ON SOME NEGOTIOATIONS...
---

In terms of;

The Lowest paid people in NZ Schools...
(Teacher Aides, Office Staff, School Librarians etc)
Negotiations WERE Happening...

They had 3 offers...
None of them properly
addressed things like
* Insecure hours
* Insecure work
* Proper Sick Leave
* Cleaning up when kids get dirty or sick
* Even if we have a job... for 1/4 of the year there is NO WORK OR PAY!!!!
---
In the case of Teacher Aides...
Remember too...
That it many cases its usually older people...
Putting in alot of volunteer hours too...
Looking after
* ESOL Kids
* Neurodiverse Kids
* Kids in Wheel Chairs
* Vulnerable Kids
* Kids from Disadvantaged Backgrounds
* Kids facing Issues at Home....
-----
And in THIS ROUND OF Contract Negotiations....
They have been OVERLOOKED
THREE TIMES!!!!!
-
Do people expect miracles out of some of
NZ's UNDERPAID... UNDER SUPPORTED
WORK FORCE....

A New Direction - James Cook High School 27/06/2025

He mihi ki Te Haikura ā Kiwa

I mihi to the BoT, the Senior Leaders, Staff, Students and Whānau of James Cook High School who in 2027 will become known as “Te Haikura ā Kiwa”.

We do all indeed have a connection to the Moana and that is what the new identity expresses.

It is good to know that Mana Whenua support the new name.

It is even more encouraging to know that students and whānau themselves have led this kaupapa.
This is their victory and their celebration.
-

The voices of the whanau, of the School Leaders, of the Board, those are the voices that matter.
-

The School has given this explanation here

Te Ao O Te Rangi Kei Runga RAWA!!!!

So so proud of our Kapa.

This is their first performance in 2025 and a debut too for
Our New Kai Tataki.
-

They have put in hours and hours of mahi. missing lunchtimes most weeks for our Kapa and that was over and above the regular practices.
-

So so grateful for the work and time put in by our tamariki.
-

They are an inspiration.
-

Their harmonies are so beautiful too, as a whole kapa.

And indeed they bring great ihi and wehi to their performance.
