We had our Neat Street Event in Rosemary Lane yesterday, THANK YOU to our team for all your hard work and showing up despite the wet weather we had. Brendon and Sheree from Scrap Metal Collecting, Mel & Pati from Kainga Ora and our Te Awa Ora Trust Team

We were able to visit most households removing their unwanted rubbish on their property sorting, diverting and recycling as much of it as we could. We had our awesome waste master Berry Setu Meredith sorting piles of cardboard, polystyrene, recyclables, metal, good furniture, clothing and toys.

Prior to this event we had visited a week earlier to collect 622kgs worth of metal items

Ngāmihi to Manurewa Local Board for their funding and support. Thanks team, amazing effort! 💪

Did you know handles on brown paper bags should be removed before putting them in your food scraps bin? They’re tough little things, so are great for reusing but if not - pop them in the Red Bin 👍

Thank you to Kara for sharing this with us ☺️

It’s a small step that helps ensure food scraps are processed correctly. Have you learnt any waste and recycling tips from our community?

Share what you know below! ♻️☺️👇

Friendly reminder to check your bins 👀☺️
By sorting and using all 3 bins correctly, you’ll have more space for unwanted waste ♻️

Bins stay cleaner, are less smelly, and it helps prevent a build-up of unsorted rubbish bags around your home ✅

Out picking up rubbish in Manurewa central and prepping for our next Neat Streets event ..spotted two trolleys n called in the phone numbers on the handles to collect them. Done.
Prevent illegal dumping , prevent them from being filled up with rubbish n dumped in our streets n parks. Report Report Report. No need to give your contact details, just say the location of the trolleys. Easy.

Kia Ora Everyone

Following on from our first post in January, we’ll be sharing more helpful updates as part of our new Manurewa Trolley Recovery Initiative.
Today's post is all about: Why abandoned trolleys are an issue — and how you can report them so they can be collected. Note that the contact details in the update are for Pak'n Save Clendon trolleys only. We intend to provide updates regarding Woolworths, New World, other Pak"SAVE stores and The Warehouse in due course.
Thankyou to everyone who continue to care for our community.
