🔋 Yikes!!!!!! 🫨🫪Manurewa locals — don’t put batteries in your red or yellow bin. You can take household batteries to Bunnings for FREE, or check with the Manurewa Community Recycling Centre at 38 Holmes Road.

* Bunnings Warehouse Manukau — 55 Lambie Drive, Manukau. Open today until 9pm.
* Bunnings Warehouse Takanini — 167–179 Great South Road, Takanini. Also open today until 9pm.

Both are part of Bunnings’ free national battery recycling programme, with the collection unit at the front entrance.

🔋 Remember to tape the battery terminals before dropping them off. Bunnings accepts common household batteries, rechargeable batteries, power-tool batteries and button cells, but not car/lead-acid batteries or damaged batteries.

The Winter Wellness Mini Expo at Te Pātaka kōrero o Waimāhia - Clendon Library on Thursday 16th July was so full of good vibes, lots of whanau and young people everywhere.
We gave away free clothing and left with nothing ! We gave away prizes to lots of people who came to sort rubbish at our games
Highlight was the 2 young girls who checked the numbers on all the plastic items 1,2,5 - “ those go in the recycle” . Lids in the red bin.

Funniest moment - a young boy had a piece of 🥕🍎🍋
Where do those go? I asked , thinking he’ll put them in the food scraps
“ My stomach, My stomach, and My fish”
Now that deserved a prize !!
We gave away information, magnets about where to get rid of excess rubbish , how to book inorganic , how to manage household waste.
Thanku to all our awesome community who came out, all the stall holders, the lead organisers of Manurewa Community Network- Lyall, Alisi, Julie and Jaylene.

It's all on tomorrow whaanau!

The Pride Project Aotearoa HQ will have a stall and is hosting an interactive workshop to showcase our brand-new language initiative, Tīpakohia tō Manu!
Join us on (tomorrow)Thursday, 16 July 2026 at Te Paataka Koorero o Waimaahia to celebrate our collective journey with te reo Māori.

What is Tīpakohia tō Manu?
Launched on June 26th, Tīpakohia tō Manu is a community-focused initiative designed to encourage everyone to use their kupu at whatever stage they are at. It is all about building confidence, fostering social connections, and normalising te reo in our daily lives.

How it works:
* Scan the QR Code and fill out the quick form.
* Identify your level across 5 distinct stages, from "Starting with kupu" up to "Fluent speaker" (Upoko Tangata to Manu Whara).
* Collect your Manu Aute badge to proudly display your reo journey and show your hapori (community) that you are keen to kōrero!

Beauty day outside …awesome time meeting n chatting with people bout rubbish at Hutt Rd Manurewa. Had lots of fun with our sorting rubbish games and giveaway prizes 👏🏽 Ngāmihi Laurel and James from Emerge Aotearoa .

What can we do to reduce and manage our rubbish when we live up in high apartments?
- I just the buy kai that we need so it doesn’t go to waste.
- I put out my rubbish every week
We also suggested :
- book your free Council inorganic collection
- use free scrap metal collection services
