Our rangatahi at Te Ara Tatai Pokapu recently took their bushcraft training to the next level by practicing target shooting—a vital skill for outdoor survival and self-reliance.
Under the guidance of experienced instructor Matua Dave, our youth learned the fundamentals of safe and responsible shooting. They practiced precision and focus, honing their abilities in a controlled and supportive environment. This hands-on experience not only builds confidence but also reinforces the importance of discipline and respect for the tools and the environment.

🌿 Boil Up Celebration for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 🌿
To celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, the youth of Te Ara Tatai Pokapu came together to prepare a traditional Māori boil up for whānau and friends. This heartfelt gesture not only honored our rich culinary heritage but also showcased the power of te reo Māori in bringing our community together. Following the meal, our youth performed the waiata tautoko Tōku Reo, Tōku Ohooho.

Te Ara Tatai Pōkapu – Alternative Education Hunting Outing
Our rangatahi enjoyed a special experience in the ngahere accompanied by Matua Dave and his trusted hunting dogs. Learning traditional hunting skills and connecting with the whenua. The day was a great success, with two small pigs successfully caught by the youth—an achievement that reflected both teamwork and growing confidence in their skills.
