Her commitment ensures that young learners grow immersed in Tokelau culture and language, nurturing a strong sense of identity and heritage.⁣⁣Thank you, Sulata Foa'i-Amiatu and Meleka Pou-Poasa for your heartfelt collaboration on the Island Time project! Recently we asked our community to share stories of their fellow educators who have been superheroes when faced with the challenges posed by Covid-19. Over the next few weeks, we'll be spotlighting a handful of the many incredible stories we received.

First up, we have Vicky Foai who was nominated by her colleague Tava. At the beginning of 2020 Vicky decided to pursue her passion for early learning, having worked at a call centre for the last 15 years.

Since joining Mataliki Tokelau Akoga Kamata Vicky wasted no time and has been committed to her community, turning Educa into an active forum. Tava said Vicky's dedication has led to an immense turn around. Using creative ways to engage families, Vicky has helped shape the culture at her centre so that parents feel more confident sharing rich learning experiences from home.

Having seen the impact Vicky has made as a new educator during these challenging times, we can't wait to see how she will grow further in her new career.
