Incredible session today with our Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) kaiako Andrew, teaching our rangatahi valuable flood preparedness skills. Our awesome youth are using music and storytelling to share important survival messages! 👌🏽🔥

Massive shoutout to our amazing librarians for setting up our space today too & our Academy reps Becca & Lilly for packing down the gears xx 🤎🤎

Every week, new rangatahi are joining us, building confidence, community engagement & critical thinking through podcasting. It’s so positive to see their growth and connection … these are the core pillars of QS Academy 🤎

Happy 25th Birthday Tupu Youth Library …such a special library in Ōtara! It was a true honour to be invited to attend their community ceremony and listen to the beautiful, transformative stories that have helped shape this community over the years. Our academy is so incredibly blessed to have collaborated with them on our youth podcast classes these past couple of years & seeing the space thriving because of the unsung hero’s that still serve in this special space. Thank you for always being a sanctuary for our youth! 🥲🫶🏽🎙️🤎

So proud of our Southside youth who came along to our Ready & Rising Podcast Programme at the Ōtāhuhu Library today! 🎙️

A HUGE THANKYOU to Andrew Peteru our community Advisor from Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) for sharing valuable information about disaster preparedness and helping our young people learn how to keep themselves and their whanau safe. Each group then created their own podcast episodes to put their knowledge to the test & they absolutely smashed it! 🙌🏽🔥💯

Next week, we’ll be exploring flood preparedness and learning what to do before, during & after a flood.

A big thank you to our incredible Academy crew Becca & Pookie for setting up the podcast equipment and supporting our youth throughout the session. Special thanks also to the amazing librarians Annie, Sia and the Otahuhu Library team for your ongoing support & to the wonderful King's College students Millie & Yasmine for helping us set up the classroom 🤎🤎

What an awesome first session! 💙 OtahuhuLibrary SouthsideYouth
