Kia ora e te whānau,

It’s fantastic to be back and diving into Term 4! I can’t quite believe we’re here already. It’s awesome to see our tamariki, whānau, and kaimahi all collaborating and living out our school values right from the start.

We’re so excited about this term and all the sunny summer days ahead. Mairangi Bay is going to be buzzing, and I have to say, we’re potentially the best school ever, ready to make this term a memorable one!

Kia ora e te whānau,

I just wanted to take a moment to share a big thank you for all your incredible support recently. From the parent-teacher interviews to the dance curriculum showcase this morning, and even everyone pitching in to help with our inquiry projects, you’ve really shown what community spirit looks like.

And a special shout-out to our teachers: you are genuinely incredible, and I’d say we have some of the best in New Zealand right here at Mairangi Bay School.

Thanks again for being such an amazing whānau. We’re all learning together for a better tomorrow!

Kia ora e te whānau,

A huge thank you to our librarian, Louise Hopkins, for organising such a magical book week. Adopting the theme of Fairy Tales and Fantasy, students were captivated by author visits, where they learned how ideas become stories, how characters are developed, and how writers persevere through challenges, linking perfectly to our value of resilience.

The SLT Reading Wizards brought laughter and excitement as they performed lively, costumed readings, showing students that reading is not just a skill but a doorway to imagination and connection. These experiences align with the NZC English learning area, strengthening oral language, comprehension, and critical thinking while nurturing a life-long love for reading.

What a wonderful week of learning at MBS!

Term 3 Week 3

Kia ora e te whānau,

At Mairangi Bay School, we are proud to celebrate the rich tapestry of cultures, languages, and identities that make up our school community. Today, in partnership with UNICEF, we honoured Pacific Day and Vanuatu Bislama Week with pride and joy. Through vibrant language activities, our ākonga celebrated our neighbours in the Pacific while embracing the values of respect, kindness, and connection. It was a powerful reminder that at Mairangi Bay, every voice matters and every culture is valued.

Kia ora e te Mairangi Bay Whānau

As we settle back into Term 3 and embrace the winter months together, now is the perfect time to reflect on how we can continue to keep each other safe. Our school values of kindness, respect, and resilience guide us in everything we do, especially when it comes to the safety and wellbeing of our tamariki and school community.

Whether it’s ensuring your child is safely buckled into their car seat or choosing to park legally during pick-up and drop-off, every small action helps protect one another. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to making Mairangi Bay School a safe, caring, and respectful place for all.
