Dr Libby proposes the following perspective...

"We don't have to lose weight to be healthy, we have to be healthy to lose weight"

And the more I learn the more I agree with that perspective.

We cannot possibly expect our bodies to do what we ask of them when we constantly put them under pressure of:

🥺Foods they aren't designed to process
🥺Chronic stress
🥺Lack of quality sleep
🥺Minimal movement

The result is a metabolic s^%$storm and our bodies just don't feel safe to burn fat.

But, when all is said and done being healthy doesn't need to be hard. It's quite simple really. The biggest barrier are the stories we tell ourselves.

I'd love to hear in the comments what obstacles are getting in the way of your health...

I LOVE THIS!!!

Too often we stay stuck where we are because we keep talking about the thing and give it life and power over us. Journal it, share it, release it to the universe THEN focus on SOLUTIONS.

Think of it this way...if talking about the thing you DON'T want sticks around the more you give it energy...what would happen if gave it less focus and energy and you started focusing and giving energy to the things you DO want???

Sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's really obvious, but when I can I'll call someone out (with kindness of course) on the way they talk about themselves.

I heard this statement the other day and I loved it!!! We're really good at saying things to ourselves that we wouldn't say to another person...

Let's try catching ourselves this week when the negative chatter starts and rephrase it to something more positive.

What kind of this have you heard people say, in regards to their health and wellness, that could be rephrased towards something more positive and empowering?

What are the next 5 years going to be like? Probably the same as the last if you don't change what you're doing.

Always learning, always growing, always evolving.

My mid 30's and going into my 40's is probably the time I've felt most comfortable in my own skin, most confident, most content.

My 20's I felt lost, angry , tired, wondered wtf had happened to my life. How did I get here ? Always searching for that thing that would make my life better, always looking externally and never internally.

Then one day in August 2011 my brother took me for a walk and told me "stop playing the victim".

I listened. I took it on board. And did the work.

Nothing will change unless we're willing to make changes.

That doesn't mean we need to change who we are at our core but if things aren't working out the way we want them to then we need to keep working at life until they are.

And that starts with setting your internal GPS. What kind of life do you want? What kind of health? What kind of relationships?

How can you get to the destination if you don't know where you're going?

Rather than becoming a passive bystander and "going with the flow" and letting life happen I started creating it the way I wanted.

And life will always throw curve balls at you. It happens to everyone.

But we have two choices. Sit there and wallow, or do the work, get through it and get back on track.

And while we need others for support and guidance, we are the only ones that can make it happen.
