🌿 Play dough Fun! 🌿

Playdough is one of those timeless activities that offers so much more than just fun! As children roll, squeeze, pinch and create, they're strengthening the little muscles in their hands that help with writing, cutting and everyday self-help skills.

Today the Kererū room made some play dough, utilising natural resources found in the playground (with a little sprinkling of glitter for added magic!)

Why not have a go at making your own play dough at home? It's quick, easy and uses ingredients you probably already have!

✨ Our Simple Play dough Recipe...

• 2 cups plain white flour
• 1 cup salt
• 4 teaspoons cream of tartar (this is what makes it soft and velvety!)
• 4 tablespoons cooking oil
• 2 cups boiling water

Mix the dry ingredients together, add the oil, then carefully pour in the boiling water. Stir until combined, then knead once it's cool enough to handle. If you'd like colourful play dough, simply add a few drops of food colouring while mixing.

🌸 Bonus Tip: Make play dough even more exciting by adding a few drops of rose essence, vanilla or peppermint for a wonderful sensory experience. Then head outside and collect treasures from your backyard - sticks, flowers, leaves, seed pods or pebbles!

Enjoy!!!

✨ Mānawatia a Matariki! ✨

This past month we've been celebrating Matariki - a special time to come together, reflect, remember, celebrate, and look forward with hope.

Our tamariki have been exploring the stories and meaning of Matariki through art, music, storytelling, baking, nature play, and conversations about the stars.

Matariki reminds us of the importance of whānau, kindness, connection, and caring for one another - values that we cherish every day here at Little Footprints!

Mānawatia a Matariki – Happy Māori New Year! 🌟💙

A huge THANK YOU to all of our amazing whānau! 💙

We are so grateful to everyone who donated and supported our fundraiser during the month of June, for the Wellington Hospital Foundation's Jammies for June campaign. Your generosity will help provide warm pyjamas to tamariki who unexpectedly find themselves in hospital, bringing them comfort when they need it most.

Thank you for helping us show kindness and care to families in our wider community. We are so proud to be part of a centre with such generous and compassionate whānau. ❤️

This week the Tui & Pūkeko rooms had a special visit from St John! 🚑💛

The tamariki loved learning all about ambulances, how paramedics help people, and what to do if someone is hurt- “Dial 111 and help will come!”

It was such a fun and exciting hands-on learning experience for everyone!
